Used to be really easy to deposit funds into your online betting accounts. Now they seem to automatically reject any transaction that has anything to do with gambling, and you have to contact them to get it lifted.
its a very bad thing when you discover a great bet at a great price with one particular bookie. But to get the bet on, you need to deposit funds, and by the time you're transaction has been rejected, you've had to contact them to tell them it's not a fraudulent transaction, then allow the transaction, THE PRICE HAS GONE
It's not even a large amount. ****s

actually, do wah has hit the nail on the head, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys etc. sell millions of pounds worth of cigarettes, killing hundreds of thousands of people and the only time a credit card gets rejected is if there is insufficient funds.
It's a mad world.
It would be healthier to lose a couple of hundred on a horse than buy cigs with it

A credit card is their money not your money, I'm ok with them keeping an eye on it.
Last time I tried to deposit to a gambling place (not to here) I had to make a phone call but I can live with that.
Exchange betting is a godsend to people trying to shift money from dodgey ripoff means if depositing isn't properly controlled. I'm quite happy my CC company flags these things tbh.

When I was at the casino in Niagra Falls, I saw this line-up of around 8 men and women looking really depressed.
I came around the corner and the line continued for another dozen people.....all lined up at a phone that was direct to Mastercard to get authorization to use their cards

TBH I don't believe CC's are the way to go to deposit anyway? AFAIK they now start charging that as a cash advance(???) so you pay interest even if normally green with them end of month, so if you've the money in a proper account, use that? Correct me if I'm wrong there, but I think that's now the case? So why use CC if you're paying interest when you don't need to? (Unless you don't have the cash and are betting into debt which is a bad thing, which brings us back to the CC companies being good to flag this).

Borrowing to buy into the stock market or borrowing to bet on sports. Any real difference at the end of the day, if you don't have any idea why you are doing what you are doing ?

That's fair enough for traditional stock market investing. Many areas of financial markets can be death-traps though. I lost money far more easily when I was trading the S&P Index Futures than I ever have on Betfair. Forex wasn't such a money pit as the Indexes, but you can still get taken for a very painful ride there if you don't have your wits about you. In terms of risk, Betfair is no worse than many forms of financial trading.
