I read it will be as quick as a home computer on broadband. If this is true the racecourse scene could look very different.

Don't take for granted that your ipads will work with 4G in the UK. It's adapted for North American 4G, and they don't use the same frequencies for 4G as (many countries) in Europe. But hey there are other computer brands, or maybe Apple will have released a European version by the time you get 4G in the UK.

You are correct.  It will be a gorgeous, sunny day with exciting racing....with a bunch of people staring at pixels. Sad

But it will be amusing to watch people chucking them through the air after their 1.01 real time back gets sunk in a photo Grin

Here's an article about what I was saying the other day:

The iPad reminded me of another 'evolution' of how crowds will act as events.  I laugh when people go to concerts and watch the entire event on a small screen.

Actual conversation with musician after a show around four years ago when I was backstage:

"Shapeshifter, what we the attendance tonight?"
"I think it was around 1,200"
"Are you sure?"
"I can get the exact if you want.  Why?"
"Because I seemed to be playing to a bunch of phones"

For Information:

'the use of mobile telephones in connection with any betting activity is not permitted on any uk racecourse'

see the terms and conditions of entry drawn up by the RCA

incredible but true!!

like to see that stand up in court when the racecourses are getting fortunes every meeting allowing people to bet on their laptops to access betting sites

yes very quick. I was just in the US, and my friend has 4g on his iPad. He on average got 22meg a second download speeds. It was insanely fast
