1. would you rather pundits or pics that are live? (thats turftv live, ruk are about twice the delay, i'd guess the ruk pics are bounced twice because of going back to the ruk studio)
2. would you have rather RUK invested in HD or red button technology ?
i just scrapped my RUK TV sub and substituted it for an RUK onLine sub as it seems to be more 'live' than the TV (via VirginMedia in both cases).
Mind, the only way I can judge is by looking at the delay between the the times that BF makes the Race InPlay / Suspends with the Start and Finish as I view it on the RUK pictures, but they seem to be in synch more or less to the second ... perhaps the BF 'Suspend' person is watching RUK? (dunno).
I also only just noticed (after subscribing, of course) that BF now show RUK races on their live video, but I'll stick with sub for a while at least.
What I'd really like though, is for RUK to put their pics in an (optional) properly re-sizeable popup (i.e. a popup where the actual video resisized to fit a resizeable popup) ... fannying about with the display as it currently is on their website is irritating, to say the least.
As for the pundits ... i can take 'em or leave 'em, but if it was a genuine either/or between pundits and truly live pics, then I'd go for the pics every time.

gus- there are websites that give the exact time, google gmt to find them. A delay can also build up over time with every slight break in the signal so it's best to refresh the page before every race if betting i/r.

Yeah it's the build up of lag that is a problem with internet streams, this was especially true when I used to watch IPL on the ITV website, although the delay there was terrible anyway. (Would start around 20 seconds delay and go up from there!)

well, the lag tip is useful, and i'll watch out for it, but i do have a pretty stable 50Mb cable connection, and when i was watching Cheltenham last week, the start (and end) of the races seemed to coincide almost perfectly with the BF 'InPlay' and 'Suspend' respectively (as indicated by the API), though I have to admit i wasn't looking out for that specifically ... also I probably refreshed quite a few times during a session because there were a couple of crashes of the RUK site, luckily between, rather than during races.
Overall i was pretty satisfied with the RUK onLine service (except for this resizing issue and the rather odd aspect ratio (too wide imo) of the video).
