Hi all.

I've started making a back testing simulation for the Hi LO exchange game.  Unfortunatly it's my maths that is a bit rusty and letting me down. Can anyone help me with the formula for calculating the odds of the next cards. I can calculate the next cards odds but I cant work out how to calculate further down the line. For example if im on card 3 how can I work out the odds of getting to card 11.

Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

No not urgent. Think I've more or less got my head round the maths now anyway. My head hurts !!

Yeah, I don't remember if there's an easy way to do this, but I did it longhand (and the odds on the site are correct) and it's a bit messy!

If you approach it logically (4th card from 3rd, 5th card from 4th etc...) that's one way to do it, but you end up with huge chains of if...then lying around!

Thanks Lori. I was hoping it would be fairly simple but it seems like a bit of a nightmare ! I can simulate the entire game using python it's just the odds Im struggling with. Back to school for me I guess !

How do you do this when xgames use an unfinite deck?
Report Lex March 4, 2012 11:43 AM GMT
infinite  that is Laugh

If there are an infinite number of decks available then the odds for each rank will be as to a full deck.
So if Ace high only, say, and an Ace is first card turned the probability of lower will be 48/52 not 48/51.
