does anyone have an idea what percentage of matches are cancelled due to floodlight failure / fan trouble etc?
also what percentage of matches are postponed due to weather?
for this i only take into account matches that are reasonably settled (ie 105% max on back side, 95% min on lay side)
an apx calculated figure would be great if anyone has it, thanks in advance

Hello there.

According to my calculations there were 10 games cancelled in the EPL last season due to weather, and so far this season only 1 game has been cancelled (non-weather related).

Hope this helps>

One figure would be a bit odd, it will vary massively by country and even league?
E.g. EPL = probably some bad winter days but undersoil heating, league 2 = bad winters but very probably no undersoil, I'd expect more call offs in the lower leagues. Spain = not so bad winters, northern Italy is just currently being touched by unusual extreme weather.

Also crowd trouble not so common in say the EPL, whereas in argentina it seems like rioting and getting the game abandoned is what the fans do when they are bored discussing ridiculous claims to Islands. Oh and the south american games LOVE a good floodlight failure, far more likely I'd say than in a european game.
