They've still not updated the portal online. I think I'd call it contemptuous, the behaviour towards PC payers that is.
I'm amazed that the portal updating process isn't automated, or I would be if it wasn't Betfair we were talking about.

I'm sure it is deeply frustrating but shouldn't you people count yourself lucky that you are able to use the Betfair website to make money in the first place?

Irrespective of whether or not we're profitable on here, we're all customers who pay to use Betfair.
As a customer I expect a certain level of service, just as I do with the other companies I use.
That Betfair regularly fails to deliver that level of service betrays the fact that they don't value all their customers equally, and that generally they don't value their customers as much as they should. This will ultimately be the downfall of the company.
This is probably born as much out of complacency as anything - a monopolised mareket place will never provide the best value / service to customers. That is exactly what we have here in the world of betting exchanges - but I'm sure it won't last forever.

you would think they might put a message up on service to say why the delay. also thought a service message may have happened last week when took it out twice

dunno - should they count themselves lucky that I pump money into dead markets so people can play them here rather than at traditional bookies?

Have you people no heart? Betfair staff have doubtless spent the Bank Holiday in the warm bosoms of their families, finishing off the turkeys your PC payments funded. Would you Scrooges really have them tearing themselves away from their loved ones to traipse off to Hammersmith and turn their minds once more to the sordid commercial realities of the Premium Charge? I think not.

Do you guys still request the email version to be sent? I have requested this and just about every week lately I don't get it and when i ask I told they will ensure that I get it from now on....

I tend to ask for the emails in chunks Joel, I used to ask every week but they ground me down over time.
On the upside for them they get fewer requests from me, on the downside some of them are huge.

Can it be hard? It's bad enough having to wait at all - didn't they promise us a rolling tool 18-24 months ago where we could keep track in "my account" ?

Agree with that, but then they knew they were doing it so could have hit the button yesterday.
That's my real gripe - that they apparently make it awkward. If it really is that difficult then an explanation would ease it a little.

this and the australian "my markets" fiasco epitomise what's wrong with betfair, imo.
stuff that should be really easy to fix going undone forever because they can't be bothered and don't listen to their customers.

Just interested, what do you guys actually check the portal for? My usage has changed over time ...
When it first launched, I originally checked it to confirm my own calcs (it's easy enough to work out), level of trust being what it was at the time.
But then as the calcs did match over time I gave up doing my own calcs and used it as a weekly "surprise", oh how much fun that was.
And now, since the introduction of PC2 (or PC3 dependent on your viewpoint), I'm back to doing my own calcs and using the portal to verify as they've gone and buggerd up the Other Charges/Premium Charges Paid on the lifetime side and it becomes important with the new different bandings.

I estimate PC from total profit/loss and commission points for that week (admittedly a rather rough method), and then compare my estimate with the amount stated on the portal.

Divide commission generated by your gross profit and consult the following table?
Lifetime commission generated to gross profits ratio Applicable Premium Charge Rate < 5% 60% 5% - 10% 50% 10%+ 40%
Hint: Getting hit by 50 or 60% would be very dumb.

Another question: What are 'Other charges'. All I can think of is Data Request Charges. I'm sure I haven't had any (DRC) but I've been deducted for 'Other charges'.
Thank you Mr.Anderson. Another question: What are 'Other charges'. All I can think of is Data Request Charges. I'm sure I haven't had any (DRC) but I've been deducted for 'Other charges'.
Other charges are non-existent charges. For instance at the moment my other charges are £ 1,463.41.
When I hit super PC, Betfair will adjust the figures 'as if' I've always been paying 40% PC. The difference between what I've actually generated and what I would have done had I always been on 40% is reflected in Other Charges.
And remember that the figures are not what you've actually paid. Betfair removed that because it was 'confusing' customers.
I'm not sure data request and transaction charges are still included in these figures as they can't be used to offsett PC?

I'm not sure Dave, but I think that maybe could be the first £1,000 that you don't actually have to pay (all have a £1,000 allowance against the premium charge), plus whatever you would have had to pay the first week if it hadn't been waived? Got a little bit more than £1,000 there?

It's a bit annoying, it would be better broken down into pc, imaginary retrospective pc, data charges and transaction charges. At the moment it doesn't show your lifetime net profit at all which is a shame.

Yeah, well, I can't imagine that whatever is included in your "other charges" should be included when you calculate your "Lifetime commission generated to gross profits ratio". Just "commission generated" divided by "Gross PL". (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

The problem is that theoretical past premium charges instead of being consistently in the "Other Charges" have been split between "Other Charges" and "Premium Charges Paid" for PC3 payers, making it essential to maintain cumulative real totals yourself.
If it was split correctly as someone suggested above, it would be far more useful.

Cat, I think you have misunderstood what Dave wants to know. He doesn't want to know his total charges % (that's in plain text in the portal), but if he's at risk for having to pay 50 or 60% PC once he has won 250k.
