What would be in fellow punters opinion the best market for making profit with level stakes ?
Single bets only , no multiples , and at odds of no less than 1.70.

Very interested to hear what people think?

Would it be possible to make 50 points profit in three months in any particular market?

I think you might find that you are asking for a little bit too much revealing info. on this matter ?
Nobody is going to reveal an edge they might have identified in any particular market are they ?
Suffice it to say it can, and is being, done by quite a few on here.

yeah

no way would i expect people to give any edge they may have on here , i certainly wouldn't, i am just asking people opinions in general .
What markets do they have success in , not any tips or anything like that,
eg. place markets (bet or lay)
     over 2.5 , 1.5 ,
     match odds
     etc.

Still asking for too much info. methinks.
After all if anyone detailed where they specialised, it wouldn't be long before you were scrutinizing that particular market in depth, looking for possible 'edges ".
A potential self destruct by the replying poster ?.

There is no sport or market where people are more likely to win on.

My worst results on here have been on Golf, but that doesn't mean it is 'harder' .Just that the people who are winning on it are more clued up about Golf than i am.

Too right people on here won't reveal their edge apart from in very general terms but they might send you down a dead end masquerading as an edge.................... BEWARE of that!

TheBuilder, like Tober said there is no best market, it just comes down to what you know best.

I've made no secret of posting up a method I used to build my initial BF bank, which involves betting at evens for a result of more than 50 points per 3 months.

It's definitely not for fair weather gamblers though, and as simple as the method is it will have you frustrated and shouting at the wall at times during the learning process.

You will need the following strengths:

Being able to red-up nearly 50% of your bets for a guaranteed loss.
A weakness in being unable to red-up exactly when required will absolutely destroy your bank and the method.

Capable of running strict staking to 0.5% of the bank (or less).

Capable of understanding and dealing with the variance; losing runs of 10 bets in a row will not be uncommon, this is when your redding -up mentality will be tested.

Happy to see small growth with no gambling buzz moments - no kicks.

I won't post the method up on this thread, last time I did that I had many messages (personally I think it's a method that doesn't suffer from too many cooks) but it should be in my history somewhere.

TheBuilder,

I don't know why you specify single bets only.

I had a bad day last Saturday, from an 8 race card I laid 6 of the winners.

The prices of the winners I laid were : 6.79, 7.16, 8.40, 4.57, 34.75 and 13.39 (BSP)

By multiple laying I still made a small profit for the day.

I won't say how much I laid them for, but if you had laid at BSP each horse for a 100 liability
(56 selections laid in the 8 races) you would have won 31.14 (net, after paying commission)

For me, multiple laying on horse racing is the safest profit maker there is. Betting to win is more
profitable long term but you can have many losing weeks. Rarely have a losing week with the lays.

Cheers.

under 4.5 and 5.5 are very good if u have big stake. when things dont go according to plan u can trade out easily with minimumloss

Trev makes a very good point.I think everyone bets/trades different ways which reflects their personality so you have to find your niche on betfair. For me it took a long time of looking at and trying different markets. Some I don't feel comfortable with and some I simply don't have the personality/skills for. The Market I now use is perfect for my personality.

perhaps your question is a bit vague and defies a useful answer.

best markets generally in what ever you play/work in are the ones with the hishest liquidity and also the most item units to trade with offering the best spectrum of possible edges.

This equation has to go to horse racing, football may attract more money but very few items means the markets are too heavy and offer less variation.

trading is by far the best way to win on an exchange but requires the greatest technolgy and technique to master and attracts the greatest chargesWink
