Q:  Could you please add Mr L to the xyz market?

Betfair:  No we won't, we don't think he stands a chance.

12 hours later Mr L is added and 36 hours later he goes favourite.

Betfair:  Yes we will add Mr R.

24 hours later Mr R is not added.

Q:  You said that you would add Mr R but he has not been added, could you add him please?

Betfair: No we won't, we don't think he stands a chance.

Betfair:  Our market ops people will be back after the weekend you will get a response them.

A:  Thank you but overnight reports now mean that I don't want to bet on Mr R.

Betfair:  We have added Mr R.

Betfair said that they would not add Mr L because they didn't think he was a credible candidate.  Yet:

Stuart Lancaster will head up England's coaching team on an interim basis for the 2012 Six Nations.

Not forgetting of course:

. Subject to paragraph 2 , an appointment described by the RFU as ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar, will not constitute national coach.

2. Notwithstanding paragraph 1, an individual appointed by the RFU on an ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar basis who remains national head coach in that capacity for at least 3 completed consecutive full senior international test matches will be considered to have been appointed as the next national head coach for the purpose of this market and Betfair will settle the market accordingly on that person.

I expect so V El P.  But if you had a winner and they refused to add it how would you feel?  Calm and relaxed no doubt.

I've always found it frustrating that you have to show evidence that the guy you're going to bet on has a chance, and the people you're showing the evidence to are allowed to bet on the site.

With football markets they generally add for me without question and with no need for explanation.

For this Rugby Union market I failed to understand why they were so reluctant to add a candidate. It was not as if the market was over crowded with many selections already.  In any case there should be no need to provide an explanation and as you say Lori you are potentially giving away an edge to people who are allowed to bet on that market, unlike bookmakers where they cannot bet with their employers.

What kind of football markets have you requested in the past?

I must confess Alex I thought ( and still do in fact) that you were inferring in your post that somehow discussing confidential betting info with an employee of a bookmaker is safer than discussing it with an employee of BF.
If I am mistaken then once again I apologize for getting the wrong end of the stck, a habit I now seem to be becoming quite infamous for on here.
What did you mean btw, if not that ?
