This afternoon many in-play football matches were suspended due to a 'technical' error.Being the middle of a Saturday afternoon many customers would have been left with very exposed positions.It took something like 30 minutes for betfair to make any announcement.This is a diabolical situation-will this be reported in their Customer Commitment Performance or will it be conveniently hidden as a minor blip not worthy of any future mention? Some customers would be able to cover their bets on more reliable sites but this would not be possible on some specialist markets not available elsewhere.Yet another reason to consider alternatives to betfair,I am sorry to say.I was fortunate not to be exposed,I hasten to add.

inplay markets need a rethink if they cant get 99% of them working correctly

Its normal for suspended to come up way too often for no reason.

It's interesting that in service announcements etc (when they put them up..), for posts on inplay problems, they take them down fairly quickly. If they had a comprehensive and accurate list of all such problem left up, it would make pretty frightening reading for any customers, shareholders, and managers out of the loop : thus I'm sure the soviet style airbrushing....

I ALWAYS feel better when Betfair apologize for any inconvenience a technical effup may have caused me.
It's a sick standard nowadays when all people or businesses or government feel the word sorry is a wild card to fix anything. |

I think we have to accept that the likes of lost video feeds, 'technical' errors, human errors etc. etc. will occur regularly on a site dealing with such colossal traffic flow as this, and deal with them by planning our betting to incorporate them.
Of course it would be nice to live in an error free BF world, but it's never going to happen and it can't be expected to happen. The old saying, 'sh*t happens, deal with it' springs to mind. I think we should all be asking ourselves whether or not we believe that BF are doing their utmost to ensure that markets are competently managed as far as is possible, and at present I believe they are. Yes I get pissed off when markets go down too, but I'd be a lot more pissed off if they didn't even happen. Disclaimer : I do not work for BF :) |

for me its do alot of these markets need to be actively managed or not. If its simpler and prone to less technical error then just leave them unmanaged.
There is some decision process thats going on already to see what is managed and what is not. The problems with suspensions must have impact on it |

deal with them by planning our betting to incorporate them. This has been going on for 10 years. Stop whingeing and deal with it - there are simple solutions to save you from BF going down. |

it'll be fascinating to see what happens when the sportsbook goes live, and if the situation were to arise where the exchange was down but the sportsbook was up, what sort of liabilities they'd run on the sportsbook, or if the sportsbook would even remain up.

Perhaps betfair need to incorporate "outage insurance".
But, as mentioned, the sportsbook could be the "out" they need in-order to allow people to close" |
