I put £10 in August 20th and finally it went back to zero a couple of days ago after 8 pages worth of bets. The highest it got was about £43. Previously I had put £10 and got it up to £100 or so and again lost it. Has anyone here ever built an account of more than a £1000 from a £10 start? My problem seems to be really stupid bets. My thinking behind these bets is that however little I know about the sport or however stupid the bet, in the end if my luck's in I can win off it. Cause sometimes you spend a lot of time analysing a bet and in the end it loses anyway.
On my recent attempt I got completely bogged down around the £20-£30 bracket for an eternity doing pointless bets that sometimes won and mostly lost and finally I had 4 losers in a row which sent me to zero.
I am close to thinking it is almost impossible to win £1000 from a £10 cause it just takes far too much discipline and time. What if I deposit £100. Can it be done then?
stick to sports u know. also if u cant win with small stakes, there is no reason that u should win with big stakes. stay small til u feel confident/know what ur doing. also.. there is nothing wrong with discipline and time, rushing to win usually doesnt end well.... or maybe thats just me. good luck anyway

I agree that it's good to be patient, steadily building your account up is the way to go.
However 10 quid is a very small bank. You only need to lose 5 minimum bets in a row to go bust. why not start with 50, or 100?

It is just as hard to turn $100 into $1000 as it is to turn $10 into $100.
If you manage to do so, then I can't see what should stop you from turning $100 to $1000.

Too many dreamers on this forum. Firstly acceptance of where you are in the ecosystem of punters. 95%+ will lose long term, 90%+ will lose EVERY year.
Now there is nothing wrong in having a bit of fun with betting and losing small sums and dreaming that one day you'll make it pay but unless you have what it takes to make it pay that's all it will ever be - A DREAM.
My advice would be you do not even need to bet to trial any betting system [your analysis] but paper trial it for at least a year [two would be better] and specialise in something you feel you are more knowledgeable than Joe public. Then if that shows up well trial it with a small bank 1000 bucks or less but remember your stake size should be a reflection of your bank size [plenty of threads on kelly and various staking methods]. This will tell you whether you have it to deal with REAL losses as it invariably happen and can keep your discipline in these times. If you can get through that phase you may have something and if not your losses are relatively small.
Footnote - you need accounts everywhere not just here.

dlarssonf - i agree with you. I was just suggesting the paper trial as a period where they learn the craft without doing their b0ll0cks followed by the real test of doing it with money. By the end of year 1 most would have realised they just don't have a clue.

Fair enough racing guru I understand where you are coming from now.... what most don't realise, and it applies to most things in life, you have to work and work hard to find edges, a lot think they can just switch on the laptop and start whacking out bets and don't understand how they could be losing

if you aint got an edge your guessing...guessers only end up in 1 position..
skint
Very true.
Also paper trading whilst very useful to test out theories will not help you if your money management and staking goes west after a losing run.
