It seems that there is no online way of calculating if you are heading towards PC. To do this you need to know your lifetime commission paid and there is no way of accessing this through the web site. You can request a report but do you want to do that every week. This strikes me as at best very poor customer service and at worse bordering on illegal
the calculation method for pc2 is pathetic and no examples in the terms and conditions, bad jog betfair, pull your socks up and make it easier to calculate and some examples please!

it's exactly the same calculation as before, except the rate of PC is different; i'm not too sure that warrants providing new examples.
to the OP: once you've got your lifetime commission generated (not paid) it's hardly a massive chore to keep tabs on your weekly figures yourself. it's not complicated.
besides, i was under the impression that if you were approaching PC payment the portal was "active" for you, otherwise it isn't.

dstyle, have you any calculations for the breakdown in how many pc2 payers are going to be in each tax bracket, it seems to me that all the best are going to be in the 60% bracket

DStyle, the PC portal only shows numbers based on the old PC version. The new portal where 40 % PC is implied on your lifetime earnings is very abysmal in it's information compared to the old portal.

It gets messy if you have a lot of partially settled markets in fairness.

its the commission over lifetime profits thats the problem and I agree with the author of this thread with his concerns on the lack of information, in fact there is a complete lack of information full stop, feels like we are all fish in a barrel, no wonder we are getting shot at!

it assumes i'm in possession of detailed data about all PC Payers, which if i were (i am obviously not), it would surely be daft of me to share that information on betfair's forum.

they are exactly the same when i checked yesterday.
the only new ratio in all of this is
Lifetime commission generated: gross profits
which determines whether you're 20, 40 or 60. both of those numbers are there.
don't see the problem here.

if all the betfair users made equal profit then the exchange would collapse, only a bank or share investment can offer an equal dividend from an equal investment and those institutions are probably the root of the premium charge problem!

winners work and the betfair model works but the current economic climate quaked by the banks and share markets repeatedly has caused a large wave to hit betfair customers!

DStyle, maybe they show numbers based on the new version if you are paying PC now, but I'm currently on 46 % total charges in the old portal basing calculation on 20 %.
The new version though tells me differently when it's based on implied 40 % on your lifetime and the information on there is very limited and difficult to understand or calculate whenever one may incure the charge again.

we all need the betfair empire to grow, aside from the fact of how much we make or are charged the big bookmakers will allow us no place to live if we win!

Fanatic, I'm not a history expert but it's Karl Marx (not Marks) and I see that you're slowly coming round to drawing a parallel between communism and (de facto) monopolies. In theory, they can both work but in practice, those in power usually abuse their position.

the real liquidity of any competition around is grossly exaggerated by a large factor and that race was won by betfair years ago and they are still ahead by a massive margin!

good post layer, we are pawns in the game of chess played by big companies or governments but we have to get what we can while we can as we live in these systems and alternatives are not available for choice, the real winners know that betfair gives them the best profits even after the pc2 and that would not be allowed in a communist country so I think mt marx involvement in this argument has limited usage as a metaphor but adds some drama[:D]

This may be true for people who can be classified as traders only, but I'm pretty sure almost everyone caught by the new PC2 who are position takers will stop betting on here.

the premium charge has turned out to be the greatest talking point in betfair history but perhaps betfair have kept quite about how many winners are winning so much for too long, betfair are tied to customer account confidentiality but that fact that so many are making big rewards cannot ever be claimed by any bookmaker! are we not missing this fundamental factor that betfair offers all of us the chance to make big profit in relativity to the charge this requires to keep betfair alive and kicking!

when britain ruled the world, around 50% of it, folk complained about paying taxes to keep britannia going but now in the shadow of its collapse can anyone say the world is a safer and better eduacated place, the list of countries and continents Britain has reformed and cultered is impressive. u.s.a, hong kong, singapore, australia, canada , india , new zealand,(part saving europe from facists twice if not more times) is taxation of any kind a bad thing when it gives security and a common goal to do well and raises our ideals and goals!

Total charges in that portal is 46%, but the terms thing say I would be on 74.6 % had PC been 40 % from day 1. Very confusing and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to calculate when Im liable for the charge again.

would appear that they're not updating your one as you're not close enough to be paying it.
my total charges went from just over 20% to just over 40% this week with the fudge update to my total PC paid as described in the terms.betfair.com site.

So I guess it will only update to PC2 in the portal the day/week one are liable for PC again ? Makes it very difficult or impossible to know when that will happen before it actually does.
