They took away 60% from "Sharp Minds" and it left "hard"

Amazing how , as recently as 3 years back , their entire approach to selling the company was based on the 'sharp minds' stuff , and it had always been like that.

Then came the 'Betfair Front Room' with mugs in Man U shirts swilling beer and talking about placing mug bets.

Now their ads are indistinguishable from other bookies.

how much do betfair pay the guy they get to write the market making bot for them?
By:
FINE AS FROG HAIR
When: 20 Jul 11 04:18
How is that maximum ?.
100 even chance games with 6% edge, means you win 53, lose 47
Is that your definition of edge ?
At 5% commission, this means a gross profit of ( 53*.95)-47= 3.35
Comm paid = .05*53 = 2.65
Thus comm paid = 2.65/3.35 = 79.1% of GP ?
By:
FINE AS FROG HAIR
When: 20 Jul 11 04:23
Ah I see 2.65/6= 44.1 %.
All clear.

Long live BF eh ?
Well at least for even chance punters with consistent, week in week out 6 % edges.
But that's the problem with the PC isn't it ?.
The basic assumption that edges are consistently earned .

wish betfair would hurry up and turn on their new bots.

Got a 1.01.7% underround book to lay on the FL T20 cricket winner market been like that for over 12 hrs. ShockedPlain

I'm sure this would have been snapped up in a few mins in the old days. whats going on? Have all the over/underround bots been turned off?

when you have options and are given the privilege of having to select the best opportunity, practice as much as you can these principles and you will likely make the best choice.

Looking for friends ?
Now that's a new angle on my posts.
You sound as if may be a real contrarian type punter.
Btw I'm on here for the MLS football games coming up.
Why are you on here right now big bettor ?
By:

You get your chance simply by posting what you want.
Nobody ( not my posts) are restricting you in any manner.
Do you have something you want to get off your chest ?.
Be my guest. Go ahead. Feel free to unburden.
Show me ( us) why you chose your chatname.
Should be interesting.

Btw you put up a bid/offer price on the screen ( manually in my case).
You then nip over to the forum for a bit of r&r ( you surely don't mean you tave all the stuff on here seriously).
Then you pop back to see if you have any price takers.
And so on.
Easy peasy.
Do you want a tutorial or something ?.

So just go to bed or something normal like that.

By:
FINE AS FROG HAIR

Btw I don't think you would ever succeed in getting me banned for upsetting your anti BF sensitivities, do you ?
So you will have to block me, if you don't want to continue reading my stunningly objective, fair minded posts, if I may be so modest.
And then where will you be ?.
In thrall of all the posters who share your personal  anti BF views in totality.
Wonderful.
Are you perhaps Aussie the ostrich ?

Why will increased premium charge "stop the bots", rather illogical statement for 2 reasons

1.....traders and bots, automated hedge betting systems will still make the same profits pre-pc
in fact there activity would need to increase if any user wanted to try to offset the pc they are facing now.

2.....your statement infers that bots are not welcome when in fact they are matching users bets and adding liquidity to betting events, possibly there only crimes are leaching out revenues but betfair advertising has always welcomed winners on a platform that is designed for the sporting speculator and also the server loads that are realised which requires more server bandwidth.

and as a footnote if betfair didnt want traders it would be quite easy to spot them and end there accounts but to my knowledge this has not been the case.

Betfair don't want to stop the bots, if they did it would be easy.  Bot operators not paying enough commission will have to pay more, just like any other affected user.
