It's not acceptable and is unsustainable.

The more Betfair abuse the concept the quicker someone come in to fill the gap. I for one hope they just keep pushing so a new exchange can be born and let Betfair become the bookmaker they crave to be.

Betfair are good because before if you lose lots of money go to winners.  Betfair now take this money instead, so is good for everyone and help peoples who bet normal.

So you joined a, supposed, person to person exchange but find that's not the case but you're very happy to hand over all your money to betfair in one way or another

In principle bf could be both an exchange and a bookie.

But trying to do both at a single site makes it a confusing mess.

Textbook example of new management coming in and not understanding the business and ruining it.

How quickly a competitor over takes BF will shock people.

Betfair is best at exchange.  Betfair will be best at bookie too.  Is good for customer we can get bet with Betfair bookie when exchange not have chance to bet if market quiet.

It's the most important point.  "Brand loyalty" in an online world is almost worthless.  Here today, gone tomorrow.

Betfair is good brand.  It is best place have bet, with best odds.

let's hope a new betting exchange ends the betfair monopoly soon. till that day the gamblers who made betfair big, the gamblers betfair owe everything will be 40% abused. i guess it's betfair's way of saying thank you to us. for 10 years loyality, dedicating our lifes, producing fortunes of commission and providing the liquidity to attract new customers.

the message to new customers is clear now: if you win, we will progressively charge you on your winnings, till you don't win anymore.

Doesn't it mean you are less likely to have paid 20% charges so they can stick you for the Premium Charge a lot quicker?

e.g. lose £10k pay £2k in commission no need for 20% Premium Charge. However if they only count the £2k commission you paid as £1k (10%) they can take another £1k from you to top it up to 20%? When really it is 30%?

If you have 1K at 2.0 and your commission rate is e.g. 2% then commission generated = 2% when you win 3% when you lose (they assume the person you're betting with is on 3%). Since you'll win approximately half the time (on 2.0 shots) your commission generated on such bets will average out at around 2.5%. If you're on 5% on the other hand it will average out at 4%.

If you lock in a profit on every race then your commission generated will work out at half your commission rate as you're generating no commission on the other side.

my answer is we will probably find out starting from today, the pc charge takes effect now and both liquidity on betfair and share price will be a good indicator in the next few weeks!

Volume (not liquidity as many people erroneously refer to it) is definitely up at the other place.
