It's ironic that when they first introduced the charge it was probably the 20%-40% big hitters that ensured there wasn't a mass migration, now they're paying aswell.

No mass migration but certain emigration

blank, the big hitters are too scared to leave.

Maybe not an immediate effect, but I think everyone on here has now realised if you are here to win, Betfair do not want you. And if you do not make alternative arrangements you will get left behind. Plans are being made:

The sharks cannot leave unless the fish do and why would fish want to leave and swim with sharks?

Then when you hit the 250k would it not be possible to move to a new office with a new account, name and a new computer?
surely if your earning 250k on here a small move, new name and a new computer is a small price to pay? |

Well as you asked. I will leave, no whinging or moaning i'll just slip away.
The past year my comm + interest amounts to over 50k which is near enough 40%, however my lifetime comm is 26%, so i would need to pay about £300k more comm to start betting normally again, which would be unprofitable for a few years. The last two years ive won significantly less than previous years due to increased competition tightening of margins etc. I have no inside info, bots, fast pics, API or any devious methods ive just used the exchange in a simple manual way, but clearly BF view me as undesirable despite my last two years as qualifying as a valued customer. Even now i'll always be grateful to BF and have never criticised them, but after betting every day for nearly 9 years its gonna be sh1t. |

Rollo you have got to start somewhere and the "fish" will only move if there is liquidity eleswhere. Granted it will not happen overnight but neither did Betfair... I have been here since 2001 and the growth has been amazing to watch. However they now want to spit in the face of the people who helped them grow... Good luck to them I say, they will need it.

My guess is very few newcomers open an account and immediately start winning.Any new account that does will be under the BF glare and closed very quickly.

The biggest shark is betfair thmeselves. You would have to weigh it up in each case if its worth staying or going. How many of those affected will be in net profit for next 2 years here compared to those who move and those that pack up completely?
If you think you wont be in profit with this new charge, then there is really no point staying even if there are more fish here. |

Cheers Johnny, am actually really passionate about this now. I think it is imperative we do not have the same attitude as last time , where we said 80% of something is beeter then 100% of nothing. Before we know it it will be 100% of nothing here also, and we will then say "what now," when we should do that now.

Frames, don't worry about me, I have a comfortable lifestyle and don't need BF for money. Having said that, I will continue to punt until it's no longer viable. ie. the commission srtucture becomes unacceptable. You mentioned that you're going to be hit with the 60% on another thread. I don't feel sorry for you, but I dislike the fact you are being ripped off. |

Dames to be hit for 60? Oh dear. Will coffee mornings have to be curtailed?
