'you see all that money on 1.01s'.

the vast money I see on 1.01 is on the available to back side - ie someone is prepared to lay 1.01 for substantial sums, which speaks for itself.

personally I find little appeal in repeatedly risking £100 to win £1 - you'd have to be very sure the true odds were shorter and do a hell of a lot of it to even out the statistical fluctuations - doesn't take much of a bad run to blow the profit from a long winning sequence.

if you can continually get money on 1.01's, when they are actually 1/500 (or shorter) true chances - then you should be made. The specific point here is - only you can decide what the true odds should be - as I think this can only occur during 'in running' events

still needs discipline, cos 1 or 2 losers, takes some clawing back  .......  and there will be losers

The considerations are -

are you smart enough to know the true odds
how much you can get on
and the number of events there are to make this 'practice' worthwhile.

I WAS PISSED OFF THOUGHT OH ILL BACK 1.01S IN FOOTBALL BASICALLY BACKING UNDERS 2 GOALS WITH 4 MINS LEFT BUT THERES POINT IN IT  ITS TOO RISKY

YOU HAVE TO PUT A GRAND ON TO WIN 10 POUND AND ONLY 1 LOSS IN A HUNDRED AND YOUR BACK TO SQUARE 1 REALLY STUPID IF YOU STUDY ENOUGH THERES MONEY TO BE HAD A BETTER PRICES IE 1.30 1.50 1.70 ETC IN PLAY FOOTBALL IS A GOLDMINE

I HAVE ALWAYS HAVE THIS IDEA MONEY ON 1.01S OR BIG LAYS ON OUTSIDE HORSES ARE FROM THOS PEOPLE THAT THINK ITS EASY MONEY THAT MAKE UP THE MAJORITY OF THAT MONEY THEN WHEN THEY GET STUNG OR FED UP THE Y MOVE ON BUT THAT TIMES THERES ANOTHER BUNCH OF 1.01S BACKERS SO IT GOES IN A NEVER ENDING CIRCLE

I STILL SAY THERE ARE PEOPLE BACKING 1.01 WINNING LONG TERM  BUT THEY NO THE REALO ODDS ARE LONGER THAN 1.01 BUT AS YOU SAID TO BACK 1.01S YOU NEED TO BACK A LOT OR HAVE A MASSIVE BANK IN THE 5 FIGURES RANGE

SORRY FOR RAMBLING PEOPLE

I WAS BACKING 1.05S WAS DOING WELL BUT ONE LOSS PISSED ME OFF ALTHO I WAS STILL WELL AHEAD

I KNOW IF I STUDY FOOTBALL IN PLAY FOR A FEW MONTHS I CAN GET TO KNOW IT AND HOW THE MARKET WORKS FOOTBALL IS PERFECT FOR IN PLAY IF YOUR BECOME AN EXPERT GAME READER THERE A INDICATORS THAT CAN GIVE YOU AN IDEAS

SORRY FOR RAMBLING ON

Not generally my thing but have done it a few times, mainly inrunning football.  If people are trying to get out or have left standing orders up at 1.01, you can get a peice of it before it goes.  Its a judegment call like everything else though obviously, but I have seen 1.01 I thought should be 1.001.  Remember as well that most inrunning football matches the status quo will be overpriced, particularly towards the end of a half/game.  Lots of 1.1 and lower that rates as value

if a team's 1.01 to lay and they concede another goal, what would be their true price to back?

don't bother trying to make money on it though. pros with bots get their offers in first and you won't get matched. they, however, are raking it in.

Not always the case viva. Usually, but definitely not always.

My average lifetime margin (2006- Q1 2011) for 1.01 backs is 0.07% versus 1.3% for 1.01 lays.

Obviously they tend not to be outright positions, as I would not even be close to beating commission.

To be fair though, if I look only at 2006-2010 the figures are reversed to 0.58% for backs and 0.06% for lays. The change is partly due to the Arsenal Newcastle 4-0 to 4-4 match in February, where I had huge positions.

It's a lot more difficult to make money with outright bets at these increments. The guys who can get q-position after goals are able to pick up money with collossal margins though.

Not always 1.01 but there will be occassions where it be a value option to back at really short prices. If a big outsider has taken a big lead for exmaple they'll be a cue of people trading out on their position. in such siutations the 1.01 may be value.
