for cancelling all unmatched correct score bets at the start if inplay matches.
There is, to my knowledge at least, no keep bet function available here to maintain pre match correct score bets during in play.

are you havin a bubble ?
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 9, 2011 5:10 PM BST
Nope.
As you know I never trade and so I'm a bit bemused by this particular matter.
Can you help at all ?
Report Eddie the eagle • June 9, 2011 6:45 PM BST
Are you actually asking why they cancel unmatched bets on an event at it's starting time ?
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 9, 2011 7:10 PM BST
Yep.
Report Eddie the eagle • June 9, 2011 7:22 PM BST
I guess it's because it's their basic policy for all markets- To cancel unmatched bets at the starting point of the event.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 9, 2011 7:42 PM BST
What about the keep bet function on some mkts but not all ?
That's my query.
Report ror • June 9, 2011 7:44 PM BST
Not all markets go in-running.
Report U.A. • June 9, 2011 7:44 PM BST
FAFH - Are you actually asking why is there no facility to have keep bets on the correct score market when there is for the match odds and other markets, rather than why do they cancel all unmatched bets on this market at start time?
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 8:13 PM BST
seems a reasonable question.
Report Eddie the eagle • June 9, 2011 8:18 PM BST
Yes, just badly worded in the OP.
Report pato • June 9, 2011 8:27 PM BST
And where is a problem? Any betfair api software will resubmit your bets even if your bet is partially matched, so will resubmit your remaining unmatched part only.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 9, 2011 8:33 PM BST
Yep UA that is exactly my query. Any answer on offer ?
Pato
Not everybody is botted up btw.
Report Eddie the eagle • June 9, 2011 8:36 PM BST
Someone asked a Betfair rep that on a thred a while ago, on the biggest thread discussing the last unplanned outage I think
Can't remember the reasoning for not having keep bets on correct score, but none of the forumites felt the reasoning made any sense.
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 8:37 PM BST
isn't this the subject that kept being brought up with BCM2 when he was on here? (seems to have disappeared now)

iirc he kept chasing it up and kept getting different answers, all pretty unconvincing.

...unless FAFH is BCM2, and this is just to throw us off the scent?
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 8:37 PM BST
^beat me to it eddie
Report Trevh • June 9, 2011 8:39 PM BST
They don't have 'keep bets' on the c/s market because after a goal all unmatched bets would be resubmitted and hoovered.

Pato, what software will allow that, Gruss doesn't.

Standard keep bets will "resubmit your remaining unmatched part only" too obviously!
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 9, 2011 8:41 PM BST
I missed the all the unplanned outage discussions on here ( on purpose), so am not aware of any previous discussions on this point.
Seems like it is a contentious matter though.
Actually I just thought that I might be missing something blatantly obvious, that's all. Seems not after all.
Report U.A. • June 9, 2011 8:43 PM BST
Yeah sorry you hadn't confirmed that when i started writing my post but i saw afterwards that i aftertimed you. No i don't have any sensible options to offer unfortunately, hopefully someone else does.
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 8:43 PM BST
that's no more true of CS markets than of the markets they do allow them in trevh, therefore not an answer.
Report Eddie the eagle • June 9, 2011 8:44 PM BST
Trevh, you could argue the same thing on keep bets in the match market.

it's forum leapfrog night.

That was the reason for my first reply.

I've brought this up about a billion times I thought everybody was sick of it. Can't believe you've not seen the threads.

Probably did, but they didn't register at the time apparently.
Don't want to go over old ground, particularly as there doesn't appear to be any good reason for this apparent anomaly.
No problema.

The problem, as ever is the confusion between keep @ in play and keep @ goal. Many regular users are surprised keep bets aren't cleared at goals.

If they had BOTH, which would be great, they could apply keep @ inplay to CS and allow both options for Match, job done.

The big inconsistancy is you can NOT modify, via the web site, the inplay status of a bet once match turned in play but the flag isn't just for in play it can be there and as I recall, hidden from the user and not modifyable by the web interface. They remove the ability, implying the keep is just for turning inplay, when it isn't, it's still there on your bets you just can't see it, this catches people out.

This is imho so bad I'd consider it a bug.
Report Trevh • June 9, 2011 8:54 PM BST
Not really the same in the match market though, because you're bet will still have a chance after a goal, but backing 0-0 after a goal is obv a lost cause, although I know what you mean.

Having said that they do allow keep bets in the h/t c/s market.
Report Rocket to the FACE • June 9, 2011 8:57 PM BST
And the correct score 2 market which is essentially an extension of the correct score market.

The error is so glaring, so obvious and so public yet since it was first discussed before Christmas absolutely nothing has happened despite numerous assurances that something would be done.

Considering they switched the option off over night without any sort of announcement why can't they do the same to switch it back on?

Looks like it's just one of those things.
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 9:02 PM BST
by that logic, why do they reopen the impossible outcomes at all?

if there was some legitimate reasoning for this, I think we'd have heard it from BF by now.

basically, it's the same as not being able to add aussie markets to my bets. it's like that they haven't bothered to change it yet.
Report Trevh • June 9, 2011 9:17 PM BST
They reopen the impossible outcomes to allow punters to free up their liabilities to use again.
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 9:25 PM BST
I know thatt's the effect of it, but that doesn't mean it's coherent in policy terms.

people who put up keep bets know they have the responsibility to manage them when they put them up.
Report Trevh • June 9, 2011 9:45 PM BST
Not being funny Presidente, but you defend punters incompetence when they take trap bets as if they did not require "responsibility to manage" what they are doing.

So it seems like you want punters to be nannied in the instance of trap betting, but they should be capable of standing on their own two feet when it comes to cancelling keep bets that are subject to being hoovered?
Report viva el presidente! • June 9, 2011 9:53 PM BST
it's not a matter of incompetence with trap bets, it's a matter of the consequences of mistakes which are easy for newcomers to make being massively disproportionate due to BF turning a blind eye to systematically implemented strategies which are tantamount to fraud.

while they do that, I won't recommend them to friends.

keep bets, meanwhile, are clearly explained, and are turned off by default so you have to activate them.
Report tobermory • June 9, 2011 10:36 PM BST
The inconsistencies come about i think because Betfair respond to people complaining about specific examples of supposed 'unfairness' without considering wether the same principles apply to other markets.

Presumably it used to be possible to do this but people whined that their bet was taken just after a goal made their bet impossible and so they responded by not having keep bets on CS anymore . People have not moaned enough yet that their match odds backs have been matched just after their team conceded.

The Market suspends - for up to several days - in reality tv events because there was so much seething from people who felt they had lost bets to people with inside info .

The 'Next Manager' markets never suspend at all , even though inside info is usually far more apparent in the market and of course much more decisive.
Report ror • June 9, 2011 11:02 PM BST
next manager is very much an "at your own risk" market where you should expect to lose money if you're a guesser.
Report pato • June 10, 2011 9:26 AM BST
Bfexplorer PRO/PRO2 offers following  bots for bet placing (the name suggests additional feature a bot supports): Place bet, Be the first in queue, Place bet by drip feeding, Place bet till time.

All these bots supports the feature for bet resubmitting if unmatched bets are cancelled after a market is turned at in-play and it does not support  keep bet.

I always use parameters MinimumOdds and MaximumOdds to set allowed odds range my bot should accept, and parameter PlaceBetOnBetterOdds to offer my bet, not to take what is offered. So when backing my bet is offered on the best offered lay price.

I can use parameter PriceImprovement to shift odds +/- ticks, set other conditions like offer my bet only when there is Minimum/Maximum OddsDifference and so.

For instance Place bet bot has 20 parameters I can adjust bot behavior if I want to do so, otherwise I can use just default parameters and set just bet type, odds and stake parameters.
Report Just Checking • June 10, 2011 12:23 PM BST
"Be the first in queue" ? Is it trying to imply it can que jump? That surely is not true.

"and it does not support  keep bet" Keep in play can be used to keep your place in the que, which is about best you can achieve re que fiddling.
Report Just Checking • June 10, 2011 12:25 PM BST
QueUE. Hate that word. Que the spelling police Devil
Report Rocket to the FACE • June 10, 2011 12:32 PM BST
I imagine it submits bets without you having to enter odds and stakes.

And then fires them in pretty quickly.

Otherwise what if two people are using it at the same time? Are they both first in the queue? Silly
Report viva el presidente! • June 10, 2011 2:00 PM BST
or, it could mean a fill or kill variant that kills any offer that isn't first in the queue.

can imagine situations where that would be useful.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • June 10, 2011 2:16 PM BST
We seem to be getting a wee bit off subject here, but  "fill and kill variants " is juicing things up a bit verbally I must admit.
Report Just Checking • June 10, 2011 2:33 PM BST
I'm a variant, and I take exception to this talk.
Report Just Checking • June 10, 2011 2:38 PM BST
Wait, it's deviant. As you were.
Report Trevh • June 10, 2011 5:55 PM BST
The trouble with bots is that they don't think. Sometimes there's been an early goal before the ko suspension unsuspends, then the bot gives away money.
Report pato • June 11, 2011 12:50 PM BST
Trevh: The trouble with bots is that they don't think. Sometimes there's been an early goal before the ko suspension unsuspends, then the bot gives away money.

It really depends on bot you have got, because bot can read match time and current score before executing any action.
