In my dealings with you Bond, I haven't exactly noticed a lot of humility in you either. Plenty of failing though, so maybe they are as connected as you seem to think...

It will be sad to see this thread end but I wish you well Undern. 8K profit is more than the masses will ever reach on here and I consider it a great success. I very rarely comment on other posts on threads but Sir Bonds comment does not reflect the general consensus. He must be a very joyless character. Good luck.

hi mums irish stew. i remember you as a long term follower/occasional poster on the thread. hope you're well. i remember you saying you enjoyed myself and undern's squabbles Laugh

on the subject of sir bond, i would say he is certainly a friendlier person than undern but that's just his way.

we await the decision as to whether this thread continues or not...

Apart from a fractured arm caused during a triathlon 2 weeks ago Im fine thanks Paulme. We all move on and I can appreciate how tiresome it must be for the OP having to keep updating a thread but reading it there are some excellent posts/advise. We really should respect whatever decision Undern makes. Good luck with your bets.

Thanks for all your posts. Some sensible posts from the likes of freddie, Inono and others. Certainly with the losing horse race bets (a run or otherwise) I am not too upset as I know I do well in the racing but it is like I explained it is hard going into a day already a significant chunk down ....

When I set out this challenge I didn't want it to be one where I am betting only on my main market (horse laying) and in a completely structured and somewhat boring methodical way. I would have found that quite boring ....

However the current way is providing some really nice days but clearly some pretty 'self induced' poor days as well ...

I am trying to get the balance right and certainly up until the poor day (the day before yesterday) I had a very nice run where I was playing more sensibly and spending a bit less time on here. Then I fell into the trap of over-staking on the rugby (damn Aussies) and that developed into a v.poor day.

I didn't actually summarise last night simply because our laptop doesn't work anymore (and I certainly didn't help by taking it a part to see what is wrong) so my wife likes her time on the main computer ... Shocked

Just for clarity - I have decided that if I drop below £10K I will finish the challenge.

With your arrogance you deserve to fail...

thanks for the post Sir_Bond - whilst I might fail in achieving £100K I will most certainly not be losing from this challenge. In fact it has been an interesting journey thus far and I have learnt a bit more about myself ....

I assure you I am just a 'normal' guy giving this a go (in my own way). While I consider myself good at certain things involved in betting, I still have lots of weaknesses and I am definitely not arrogant in anyway.

But saying that as Mums Irish Stew would know with his triathlon (if he follows the pro athletes) ... all the top athletes need to have that 'steely' focused in some ways selfish-attitude to reaching the top of their professional field.

So yep sometimes I need to say no more to say Paulme's Q&A posts etc as this simply doesn't help me in anyway ...

Going out so update soon.

I could be wrong but you have come across as rude at times to people A. trying to follow bets or B. commenting on some of your higher stakes bets.

Never seen undern being rude. It's a big boys betting forum and this is one of few successful threads, it's up to undern to post as he sees fit on it.

Take Paul for example, He's asked Paul to stop posting on his thread many times. Paul seems to think he is being clever or funny, but this isn't the only thread he has tried to ruin either by design or just ignorance.

Good luck undern and a speedy recovery from the op whether you decide to keep up the challenge or not. Your in profit which is probably more than the begrudgers can say.

A winning day which is a good day. Thought Wales would win well so lost on the handicap bet. Overall played well on the horse racing and indifferent in the football. Trying to play sensibly both in selections, markets and staking. As I have already stated if the balance drops below £10K I will end the challenge.

I was looking back at my spreadsheet I use to record certain information. One thing (I have mentioned in the past) is that my aim was/is to make 1% (max £500) per day increase to the bank. The 1% being based on the highest bank total (£16107) so it would be £161. Projecting this would mean that £100K would be reached 22nd May 2012.

It is funny how a run of nice wins or a run losing bets totally change the complexity of a challenge. If you look at the above 'target' on the whole it would look (although not easy) something achievable (ie: £500 would only be required when a £50K plus bank was reached) ....

Yet if a nice run of profit comes along the feeling is to win a lot more (through staking, selections etc) to hury up the challenge or if a losing run comes along the need to turn it around asap (through staking, selections etc).

thanks ShaneESP - stitches out this week and start physio as well. Hanging in there with the challenge but I am finding it a difficult thing to balance out the fact it is a long term challenge so there is no need to go overboard in a day ...

I have also decided (after trialling it for the week) to continue with posting up the daily p&l statements ... rather than like I did over the the first 5mths or so each and every bet I did ... quite simply allows me to get on and bet away. I will occasionally post up comments and bets as I see fit ...

Inono picked it up quite early that I was taking on too many horse favs .... quite simply the reason being that I was looking at them as the 'quick' road to gaining some nice profit (while limiting liability) as opposed to my more normal way of taking on (not always mind you) higher odds horses and trading/greening up ir. I found myself reducing the trading/greening up etc simply down to it was getting too hard/time consuming to copy and paste as quickly as I felt I needed to ...

I have also joined back into putting a selection every now and then on the Anyone Fancy a Lay thread which (for anyone that knows me from a while back) have in the past enjoyed doing ...

Have a good day everyone and will update tonight or tomorrow morning.

They're nearly always the same questions too!   I do feel sorry for those poor people on the How Much Has Everywon One thread. Now that is a thread that isn't to be taken too seriously (in contrast to several of the threads Paul 'chats' on). And yet Paul's Gestapo-style questioning of everyone who posts profits of more than two figures has made it such an ordeal, that many of the posters are wondering whether they should give up posting on there altogether!
By:

Couldn't agree more with you on that LB. I have a nosy every-now-and-then at that thread and Rob_The_Bantam has been unfairly picked on my Paulme.

When I was working in the casino in Australia ... the biggest bets I ever took was A$350,000 each hand (two hands) on Blackjack and regularly on the Craps tables there was one guy that used to own a chain of shops and throw down A$40K most days - some days he walked out losing the lost but some days won A£250K plus ....

What one person's wealth is another person's pocket money .... yet he (Paulme) finds it hard to believe people are much better off than he is ...

By all means he should be talking about his markets, strategies and bets but not drill others over theirs ....
By:
paulme
When: 19 Sep 11 14:58

You're wrecking the won/lost thread Paul. Most of the people there are heartily sick of you. They want to put up how much they've won and lost. They want to share their good days, and they want others to commiserate with them when they get smacked down. What they don't want is to be subjected to endless taunts about their lack of credibility (which you do to almost anyone who posts a profit of three figures or more), or to be told that they have to 'run their bets' past you in advance so that you can 'verify that they're credible'.

Some of them will detail exactly which markets they made their money on, but they're under no obligation to. And knowing the markets they traded on isn't really very important in any case - despite you thinking otherwise. Those markets can be easily faked, so they do little to improve the credibility of those posters. And knowing which markets somebody traded in doesn't tell you how they made their money on those markets (which is the really crucial thing). Having said that, I totally understand that some of the posters on there don't want to even take a small chance that somebody else can piece anything together about their bets from the markets they traded in. Why take even a small risk of that happening?

I've got quite a few things to do this afternoon, so I'm not going to sit here and 'chat' to you about this matter. (I actually see Undern's thread as being one of the more serious threads, even though you obviously see it as being the sort of not serious thread that you can chat about.) However, if you were go onto the Won/Lost thread and ask the people there whether they find you annoying or useful, I think you'd get a great many posters opting for the former.

PS: Bond is just calling it as he sees it. Just because you pay somebody compliments, it doesn't mean they have to be nice to you!

Turning a corner? My view of you now is pretty much what it has always been Paul. Sometimes I find you amusing, but on some threads you're a destructive influence. The way you bully and hector most of the posters on the Won/Lost thread is really very aggravating and risks wrecking an interesting thread. If you don't want to find yourself being frozen out on that thread, I suggest you tone it down and stop questioning everybody's credibility.

Also, when somebody runs their own thread, if they ask you to stop posting, it would be polite to go along with them.  I gather from i-only-lay's comments this morning that he wasn't very happy that we took over his thread last night. Personally I think I got a few interesting ideas to work on from that thread (none of them related directly to laying 0-0 draws though!), but if i-only-lay wants it to be a serious thread on his draw lays, then I'm happy to leave him to it and not post there. (Well apart from the quick post I'm about to put up..)

I don't personally like Bond, based on my dealings with him. However, I have to admit that earlier, his views accorded with my own. So in this case, I'd say he certainly has credibility!!

(PS: Looks like you got netted by Merson there. Better get out that graphic you love...)

Going in the right direction and should be happy with that. Made over £100 ... so would be very nice to do that each day (okay I guess more than that would be better Laugh ) .... now I thought I was going well at the greyhounds but that turned around sharply into a couple of hundred loss. Horse racing went well (even my double lay I put up on the Anyone Fancy a Lay thread on the top two favs worked out nicely).

Yes I can't believe how such a nice early run went backwards so quickly ... but it did.

What a day ... yep lost a lot again playing in the Aussie markets (although won a bit on the rugby) and spent lets just say a concentrated time playing the Greyhound markets (at a bit higher stakes than I wanted) then to top it all off some nice wins in the horse racing (UK). Think I might back off from
Aussie racing and restrict to very small bets as I could and should be up so much more today ...

Unlike most of the markets I play the Greyhound bets are purely a system based method and actually quite chuffed with how it went today ....

Simply warn out and need to have the evening off ...
