You may have noticed that adjacent to every single post in Forum Beta are two clickable buttons: ‘report’ and ‘block user’.

We want to take the time to explain what they are and how they should be used, so that hopefully both will enable you to get even more out of the Betfair Community.

Report allows you to draw our attention to anything posted anywhere within the Community that you think breaks any of our Community Guidelines (which you can see in the left-hand menu). These cover a number of areas: inappropriate language or photographs, posting copyrighted material, promotion of commercial websites etc

When you click the report button, you will be asked to highlight the area of our Community Guidelines you think has been infringed. You will also have the option to give a brief description of the offending content if necessary. Please do not use this space for any forum queries requiring a response, instead contact us at forum@betfair.com.

Once you click ‘submit report’, the details of your report will be delivered immediately to one of our site administrators, who will then decide what action, if any, to take. This could range from no action at all, a warning, a short-term ban up to a permanent ban for the most serious cases. Our administrators will decide what course of action to take in each instance. Please note though – we will not enter into discussions on particular cases as we have to respect the privacy of all our customers.

So we can be as efficient as possible, please only use the report button to report specific content that breaks our guidelines, if you have any other forum enquiries, please direct them to forum@betfair.com where we will do our best to assist you.

Block user is as it sounds – you can choose to block content posted anywhere on the Betfair Community by any user you would rather not hear from. Of course, you’ll still be able to read and post on any topics that the blocked user contributes to, but you will not actually see that user’s content.  You should note that you will still see that the blocked user posted something to the thread, but you will not see the content itself.  This is done to maintain the context of the conversation.
