Although now well and truly limited with this firm, on the whole over the years I have found them to be very good to deal with. Even now they take enough off me to keep the ever baying wolves from the Deadly Earnest door. They have been open, honest, helpful and never engagaed in any sharp practice with me. I've always found it easy to get along with the staff there, which is a bonus.
If you win they will, after a time, restrict you to phone only. That's ok, you normally get matched in running in a reasonable time, say after one further ball in cricket. If you continue to win, thye will restrict your bets in size, if they suspect you are doing something they object to they will just close you down.
I come from a slightly different angle to the other posters here on spread betting. Spread betting allowed me to get ahead though I don't do as much as I would like to now as it is difficult to get on.
If there is one piece of advice I would give anyone spread betting it is this:
Learn to stake correctly. When I started out I placed a few bets according to amounts I hoped to win. The assessments were bad and I got cleaned out. Stake accoring to your worst foreseeable result.
So a team is currently 2-100. The quote to buy their runs is 350. You think the worst foreseeable result is 230. You want to risk £120 max. So you buy for £1pp. Every now and then you will get a blowout worse than the worst you have allowed for. But these will be balanced by the odd win that goes way above the best you hope for.
You stake like that and spread betting is a lot less volatile than fixed odds betting. In fact your results should reflect the quality of your assessments a lot more closely than fixed odds ever will.
Good luck, and don't let the other spread firms off the hook either. [;)]

My experiences reflect the earlier posts, but there is one thing I would add. Betting blind sellers will be better off than buyers, the danger being that selling are limited by the nature of their bet as opposed to buying. What I mean is that if you sell, say total goals in a match at perhaps 2.5, the most you can win is 2.5 times your stake, whereas your losses are open ended. My experience is that the actual spread usually favours the seller, the middle price being nearer to the buy than the sell. The reason for that is also because punters are mainly optimists preferring to see things happening (goals being scored) rather than things not happening. Last evening would have been a good example MK 1-0 over Posh. I would imagine that would have been a good result for the spreads.

Outwith betfair, they allowed me to win the most (by some way) I've ever been allowed to with any bookmaker or spread firm. How I long for those days when I could get a decent wedge on early. I also miss the consolation prizes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
What options have I got these days? £2 leap frog with Ferengi Fks.
