Good grief, that was hard work.
As it happens, much of the copy is repeated in the
different sections.
A few areas are a bit worrying and some I am unsure about
The reinforcement of minimum bets is cause for concern as is the mention of moving money between accounts!
Also I'm not quite sure what is being said in the
clauses which I have copied and pasted below.
"We may elect, in certain very limited circumstances, to nominate one or more of our affiliate or joint venture companies to accept your offers for bets and act as a principal counterparty in whole or in part in accordance with this Agreement. If we do so, we will take reasonable steps to bring this to your attention."
"We may restrict you from using programs designed to automatically place bets within certain parameters (e.g. to back or lay at a certain price) ("bots") either generally
or in relation to any specific bot if we believe that you have used a bot:
to the detriment of our business;
to place bets on, or manipulate, any Market which has the purpose or effect of adversely affecting the integrity of the Exchange or any Market."

Looks like they've identified which bots are profitable and decided to take that cash for themselves. Probably identified the larger mug punters bets too and decided they may as well match those as overtime they show a healthy profit. With everything outside the UK it makes things nice and easy to sneak in just like the way they sneaked in cross matching
Well the anti manipulation clause looks pretty sensible to me. In the securites markets, that bit is actually law enforced by the FSA.
So will they finally stop folk matching 1p bets ?

I think that would be incredibly difficult for betfair, as when profitable bot owners find out they're being tracked, they'll just start posting spoof bets to take advantage of betfair jumping the queue... hence positional players becoming more strategic. Though I suspect there could be susceptible bots (such as those removed with introdution of cross-matching).
I interpreted the paragraph:

as more to do with removing of bots that place "trap bets" and those bots that have excessive call requests on betfair's servers. But then who knows. I am sure there would be a massibe uproar if betfair became like the bookies and restricting successful punters. Certainly betfair would disappear overnight to a (new) rival.

These are the same rules as before except with a name change are they not?
