It's the first time I've posted any bets on here and the reason for it was to ask you a question if you don't mind. Of the 13 bets I placed yesterday, at least 10 0f them I put on the blue back square where there was always a few hundred quid available. I would like to say to my suprise that the price disappeared as soon as I pushed the back button, however, time and time again this has been happening. I was on a good run since october and maybe got a bit paranoid thinking I was being shadowed. However, the suicidal losing run has crept in and I'm thinking it can only be bots at work???? (all bets were placed approx. 4-5 mins before the off) I even put 100 quid on a horse and the price dissapeared and I thought, fck it, and put on another horse in the same race only for the same thing to happen again. So I said to myself, fck it again and put it on another horse and woe and behold, the price disappeared again!!!! Was Barry Dennis right when he said that it's just a game for robots now? I should add that one off the hoses genuinely did get backed. Anyways I'm not a happy bunny and if this continues, I'll get so frustrated I might just fiddle about with high street bookies.

I would suggest using something like geekstoy that refreshes prices in pretty much real time, so you can see what's happening and what's available a bit more clearly.

other alternatives would be the watchlist feature in firefox extras, or the gruss refresh script.

Could it be anything to do with cross matching stewarty? Either way, the general view on here is that it's great that you can see the queue even if it's just fkng wallpaper. Without it how would the suppliers of famous liquidity know which markets were the quiet ones?
Report stewarty b March 4, 2011 5:03 PM GMT
Thanks for the reply Feck. Needless to say my original post involved a bit of chasing. When BF put up the total matched at the end of each race, I'm convinced that 50-60% of that total is in running merchants and traders money. Having said that,as the saying goes.....if you can't beat them, join them. Without blowing my trumphet, I believe I'm a half decent reader of the form but might carry out an experiment and trade for 2-4 weeks to see how I get on.
I was a bit boozy the other night and stuck this bet on.....

This beast looked home and dry and traded at a low of 1.16. The fast pics boys must of cleaned up. I could have traded out and made approx. 1K, hence my decision to give trading a try.

Like yourself,I do believe that there should be only 2 boxes on screen and it becomes an auction so to speak. However, I'll give trading a try and let you know how I get on.

PS I was hoping the huns would win on wednesday to give you a better chance of landing that bet, but I still think they'll land it.

Thanks for the reply viva, however, I'm afraid that's way over my head and to be honest, I don't think it would be much help, but thanks anyway.

no problem. they're actually simpler than they might seem, and it's really worth being able to see what's happening on markets in real time.

I'll give trading a try

Cry Repent now stewarty before it's too late.

I know Feck, I know. But when you look at the last bet I posted, can you blame me? It would only involve in running and not like the parasites that that try to green up for a fiver before the off.

Only joking stewarty. Opening and closing bets that far apart doesn't qualify as Ferengi leeching.

Traded at evens. I'll leave it at that, no point in getting boring, but after today, trading in running seems to make sense?????

It will cost you in the long stewarty but might ease the misery of losing runs. Personally I'd rather stand them than donate to the on track mob.
Report stewarty b March 6, 2011 2:07 PM GMT
After giving it some thought Feck, you're probably right. I'll take a week off and have a fiddle about at Cheltenham. As regards the ranch foreman, although my punting doesn't affect her finacially, I know for sure she senses something's up. I'll have to be careful on that front also, as I've seen many a relationship go pear shaped through punting. (probably more so now punters are spending up to ten hours a day on their PC, when in the old days it was a few hours in the bookies)
Report stewarty b March 6, 2011 2:36 PM GMT
PS, I forgot to mention that I've paid nearly 4K in commission since mid october. I know it's par for the course, but my rate at the moment is 4.5%. This 15% weekly decay is becoming a joke imo. Long time  regular punters should be on half that imho. Rant over.
