Hi! I went to place a bet on the snooker and i checked the lay price but the liabillity was to high, then pressed the back back tab and proceeced with my bet at a lot less liabillity and then cofirmed, then i noticed both went through and i assumed only the back bet was confirmed.
I rang customer services and told them and they see was a genune beginners mistake, they then put me through to another dept and said could alter due to the prices, then i was put back to customer services and she first they see was a gennine beginners mistake and in these cases we reimburse you, in the end was put through to a manager and said very sorry and the best we can offer is 25 pound i did not except and said what was told he siad was overriding her orginal desicion and was his final offer again i did not except and in the end he just hung up.
I feel this is very unfair customer support after i got straight to them and at first was offered to be reimbrused and to be treated this way by a manager.

(1) Very difficult to read and decipher as you do not use Capital letters or full stops in your second paragraph.
(2) It is 'ACCEPT' and not "except". Makes it even more difficult if one has to guess what you mean.
(3) On the 'Place Bets' is a box at the bottom that you can click 'confirm bets before placing'. You had that option and you chose to ignore it.
(4) I have never ever ever ever been offered a £ 25 refund by Betfair despite being on here before the Romans invaded. Two weeks My mouse slipped and I backed a horse at 1,000/1 for £ 5. Needless to say, I meant to back the horse above at 2.40 which went onto to win.# My fault. I know the rules. Accept it.
(5) There is a 'Help and Learning' video available to study to stop punters making mistakes like yours. Go to Sports Page and then 2nd entry from the left.
(6) It is 'genuine' and not your other 2 spellings.
(7) Hope this helps/

It's not YOUR money that they're now sitting on that they'd be giving you BACK, you've just given someone ELSE your money and betfair have taken a small %, so they'd be out of pocket for the entire sum you're asking for.
While there are sometimes things we can genuinely get angry at BF for and once in a while things happen we could quite reasonably ask for a refund or void due to their error, don't think this is one of them. Didn't it give you the 'confirm your bets' first, and you didn't really read it and clicked yes as well?
If all their new customers started whacking numbers in and clicking and ignoring warnings and losing money then asking for refunds, where would they be? In essence, you're asking for free money due to your mistake. This is real money remember. By sounds of things if results had went OTHER way you'd have been quite happy?
Also, as a tip for the future, if you noticed immediately (before match over or odds had change a lot) you could've likely backed your lay and layed your back (if I read that correctly) for a much smaller loss. We all make mistakes.

PS I know my final tip might be overcomplication if just a simple winner market but I've no idea what market he's bet / layed on, he needs to understand the general idea that you can try to rectify mistakes yourself.

Betfair manager: "You messed up but we'll give you 25 pounds back, take it or leave it."
Cristo: "I'll leave it"
Betfair manager: "Okay"
What exactly is unfair about this?

Yes they did put me thru to trading but they could not really help because the odds available.
Also then they put me back to the lady, and she told me if a genuine mistake i will be reimbursed, then changed after to speaking to her manager.
I will ring again today and try and sort something out amicably.
Sorry about the bad spelling and grammer earlier i had been on the phone for about 2 hours trying to sort things out.
I will report back on here what happens.
All the best, Paul.

DStyle because i only had £65 left in my account, so would of not helped much. even the trading help desk said was a pretty much hopeless situation.
But Thanks!! for your comment and reply.
All the best, Paul.

Cristo, Sounds like your playing with stakes far too big for someone who doesn't understand how Betfair works. No offence meant like but its just silly to say you expect a full refund. Learn your lesson and reduce your amounts until your comfortable with what your doing

Neal P! as i said i only checked the lay price i had no clue what it was and it was high, i just then pressed the back button, which was the only bet i wanted place which was a small win bet! yes i only use small stakes.

Fair enough Cristo didn't mean to dig you out or nothing. However the point still remains that Betfair didn't actually win your money someone else did, and it was down to the fact that you proceeded with your bet without cancelling the lay part first. Even though you had to confirm it twice to do so. Good luck with your efforts however it turns out

Other day on the "Avoiding Mistakes" thread a guy went off on one which I thought was mad for THAT thread, but actually for THIS thread, he was spot on. So, trevh, take a bow for "great reply, wrong time wrong thread" award 2011 :)
--- Trevh Joined: 21 Jul 06 .. Spot on. The trouble is though (in the UK at least) the compensation society has turned people into wet blankets seeking reward for incompetence, which is now very big business most of the claims being fraudulent. All down to greedy so called compensation lawyers using bombardment advertising 24/7. Younger people now think it's normal to receive £££'s for walking around with their eyes closed and tripping on a banana skin. ---

Thanks for your kind words Neal P btw! we sorted it out the best we could, they gave me the £25 and also a free bet for £25! and offered to try and get the rest back in stages through their help desk also if ring to enquire about any bets i wish to place.
In the end they sort of admitted i sould not of been lead on to the fact that i would get a full refund, and the offer then changed.
I am a fair person and like fairness back!!
Thanks Again for All the Help!! and the Best of Luck to All of You.
All the best,Paul.

What I meant Cristo is that after you have read all the "advice" on here, I would be surprised if you knew how you feel or even should feel. That's all.

Ok Thanks for clarifying matters! Fine As Frog Hair.
About the compensation post above, most customer services also seem incompetent i am afaid, rarely am i told anything right.
I suppose conversely though, as i learnt when studing atomic physics, if at the beginning of creation, their was no mistake like patterns or formations of the particles, none of this would of existed anyhow.
All the best, Paul.
