BF is an excellent idea.  however, you dont half feel like they are robbing you with their shocking commissions etc.  customer service can be useless as well, overall 6/10

Thanks Mansini, you have given me a terrific idea.

The bottom line is that they're the best around.
That'll have to do till if and when something better comes along.
But don't hold your breath.

How they rate depends on how you operate tbh.

For trading, there is no viable alternative so obviously its the best for that.

As for just straight bets pre-event, there are several books that consistently offer better value on most events. 90% of my bets are placed elsewhere these days.

From my naive perspective, what they do is essentially simple and should be cheap to operate.  The exchange is hugely overpriced and they never miss a trick to skim some more off the customers, who they treat with considerable disrespect (again from personal experience).

Ultimately, they're only as good as their customers, who I would rate highly. The exchange, however could be so much better and not in the way that they seem to want it to be with each update.

So 3/10

BF, if it makes you feel any better, I wouldn't rate any other exchange any more highly.  It's a bit like BT in the 80s... disgracefully expensive but where else are we going to go?

To answer the posters question as to whether "Betfair was a joke or a sign of the times", I would say very much a sign of the times.
Everybody including its customers just never being satisfied.
