How do you all see betfair now. Started as a person to person betting site with max commision as 5 percent.NOW as much as 25 per cent.arcades casinos there own sp,poker, has it become a joke or is it just a sighn of the times
BF is an excellent idea. however, you dont half feel like they are robbing you with their shocking commissions etc. customer service can be useless as well, overall 6/10

For trading, there is no viable alternative so obviously its the best for that.
As for just straight bets pre-event, there are several books that consistently offer better value on most events. 90% of my bets are placed elsewhere these days.

From my naive perspective, what they do is essentially simple and should be cheap to operate. The exchange is hugely overpriced and they never miss a trick to skim some more off the customers, who they treat with considerable disrespect (again from personal experience).
Ultimately, they're only as good as their customers, who I would rate highly. The exchange, however could be so much better and not in the way that they seem to want it to be with each update.
