I'm moving home next Tuesday.  I'll be keeping the same phone number.  I'm currently with Sky Broadband and they've today informed me that it will take 10-15 days from my telephone line going live until I'll have internet access.

Can anyone offer me a solution to getting internet access much quicker than this?

Possible solutions I've thought of are choosing another internet provider - but I think there is still a delay (Virgin say 7-10 days) - and using a 'dongle', although my experience is that they're not that reliable and not that quick (experience from two years ago).

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I'm moving from one block of flats to another within the same development.

I've spent quite a bit of time on the net trying to find out about it and I've seen one place say it's longer if you're keeping the same number!  So I need to speak with Sky to see if that's the case, but they close at 9pm.

Yeah, bumming off the neighbours is a possibility but there's always the risk of them switching off the plug at the wrong moment, being an IT crook and somehow swindling me, etc.

The other point to note is I get virtually no mobile reception in my flat and expect it's the same in the new one (I use a Vodafone mobile booster in my flat to get perfect signal, but this requires the internet), and so a dongle may be a non-starter.

I think I need to speak with BT.

I'm renting, the new place is empty.  I'm wondering if I can just get a new account set up in the new place asap, then when it's live I can arrange for a new broadband service on it and it could be ready next week.

Only downside is that I haven't officially got the new place yet (referencing needs to be done and being a 'pro' on here can lead to issues) so that's a slight risk.

I'm going to find an IT/Broadband forum as guess that's probably a more likely source for a solution than the Betfair forum!
