Got a single £1 treble up in a Fred shop on the Goals Galore coupon and that pays 9/2, but I got it into my head it was just 9/4 (the double price.)
Called in to collect and the woman behind counter initially thought it was a straight accumulator. No, I said, it has trebles as well. I think it's £3.25. (Trying to be helpful!)
"£3.25?" she asked. Which I thought strange, as I expected her to check.
I said yes, and she paid me it.
Of course I get home and realise it should be £5.50.
Obviously these are embarrassing amounts, but surely this is a straight rip off?
She must have known it was light. If I'd said it was £15 surely she wouldn't have paid me it.
my take on betfred staff is that they cudnt give a sh!t about anything - i dont think they are too motivated as motivation goes
btw you should have got £5.83 as they usually pay out 3 * 4/5's

take it back to the shop and ask them to check, the epos should say the amount it was settled for, if it has been settled at £3.25 then you should point out the correct price and it should be sorted. If the epos says its been paid out at £5.50, then im afraid you've been done. It all depends as to wether its been manually settled or not

Thanks for the opinions, guys. I suppose there is some room for doubt about the bet not being entered correctly in the first place. That being so, I'm more inclined to forget about it. The money's not really important.
If it was an attempt to rob a complete stranger, she's obviously a total idiot and is bound to come unstuck without my aid.
I'm a complete novice at shop betting, and was unsure how these things work. If I'm in again any time soon, I'll mention it.

My experience of betfred (I've only ever bet online with them)admittedly some years ago is every 1/4 odds place is settled at 1/5th unless you complain. Toenail Cheeseburger found them the same.

on-line settling of bets is overwhelmingly accurate, betfred included.
The specific incident in the betting shop sounds unfortunate and poor service on the part of the Betfred employee, but it can be easily sorted out.

Apologies, what I was meaning was I didn't bet in their shops. My online account was effectively closed pretty quickly. The disputes I talk of were all to do with phone bets on a debit card account before they even went online. Every statement required a phone call to have around a third of the bets settled correctly.

Do they print a photocopy and receipt for those coupons (so they have to manually settle them or type them in) and staple them together? Or do their tills print off a nice little slip with your returns at the bottom, like Coral's and William Hill's?
Baffling. Bet she thought "Wahey, cheeky couple of quid here. I'll buy some jiggers of milk with these badboys".

Its likely these newer types of coupons such as goals galore can not be translated onto their system and thus these coupons require manual settling. The woman obviously wasn't the most mathematical but I don't think she would risk her job over 2 quid.
Poor service but nothing more sinister.

i've just been in a fred shop to collect - i did 4*30 trebles and 30 acca on the goals galore
got 3 out of 4, so one treble. The cashier looked at me and said the bet was a loser as i only got three correct so i said i did trebles. So she paid me out, no apology or anything - i then put another bet on. For the whole of the time she was doing this she was on the phone to a mate !

Get with it. Shop staff on most high streets are clueless as far as betting/racing/etc goes. Anyone who knew how to do the job well left years ago as the chtn scumbag big 4 all looked to enforce working hours and contracts that would embarass an indian orphans workhouse owner. When is the bald cnut gonna sell off his shops then? Too many losing ones i reckon.
