in honour of last night's american football fiasco, any old timers want to nominate their favourite betfair comedy gubbings?

I'll start with:

Justin Leonard USPGA 2004, backed at 1.01 for 30k(?) whilst over a four foot putt to win. Missed it, then lost the playoff

Horse racing has a few, some fat finger errors laying the eventual winner at 1000 in running, and of course the faller that went on to win after jockey remounted as every other runner failed to get round

Horse racing has a few.

Indeed.  A race last year where the runners had to do 3 circuits.  After the first two circuits the leaders thought they had finished as did the commentator.

My all time fave was when Harmison was at the crease on 49 and looked like scoring his first England half century.  They were 9 down and Panesar was at the other end.
They took a run and a few grand was matched at 1.01 for a Harmy 50, only for the umpire to signal a leg bye, leaving Panesar to face the remaining balls of the over and Harmison stranded at the other end.... you know what happened next.... Panesar gets out and England are all out with Harmison 49 not out.

Pennies and steam rollers Laugh

My second fave was an Olympic snowboarding race when with one jump to go, the winner was about 30m in front and was matched for about a grand at 1.01.  Tries a bit of showboating on the last jump and stumbles on landing, losing all momentum and comes in 3rd.  Whoops Shocked

that 4-4 in the african nations is probably worth a mention.

also, pakistan forfeiting that test match over here. didn't see that one first hand, but I'm guessing there must have been some wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Wasn't there an under 18s or something where a side came back from 5-0 or simmilar? It was only done for a few k if I remember as very few even bothered to lay it.

Only complete mugs and 'green up' mugs would have layed it though @1.01 as it must be a 5,000/1 chance that they wouldn't win.

Though it would have hit 1.01 at 4-0 and maybe 3-0 depending on the teams/time left i expect

Yes. I think the most surprising thing was that the draw only hit 230 or so rather than 1000. Probably due to the fact that there weren't huge sums traded on it.
