to zip or shane...

do you think you could find 25 10/1 shots in a week to lay without hitting 1 winner? Confused possible?
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 5:05 PM GMT
Yes, i`ve done a similar thing, strange part of it i increased stakes after about 7/8 losers. I had a laying system which among other things had to drift from at least 7 to 11 on here. Plenty of bets too.
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 5:09 PM GMT
I don`t usually lay that high, just needed another 2k for legal reasons.
Was risky though, a few nearly won. Packed up when i needed another ton and laid one for £100 @9.8 - traded at 1.44 looked a winner all over but thankfully got caught on the line.

You must be prepared to lose your money stevie.

because zip i find it interesting the number of big price winners that win..

i want to learn how to read horse racing properly and understand how these big prices are winning races, what factors and ways i can reduce the chance of laying 1 of those 10/1 shots that win etc

also 25 1.1s will turn 100 into 1000  Cool want to see if thats possible too

zippy, a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Weekends can be a little tricky for me. Im trying to lower my handicap too (golf)
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 5:38 PM GMT
stevie - laying is extremely difficult at times, despite what anyone else may say. If you only take notice of one piece of advice make sure its that. I wish you the very best of luck.

shanelee, teach me how to pick good lays? haha

i want to learn to understand horse racing better than i currently do, i know simple things to check trainers form/ horse form/ other runners/ the going etc but still cant make good seelctions

This is a new woman zip. Last one ended up in divorce. Betting every day and spending time in the bookies didn`t help, i thought it was normal behaviour, always done it.

Shane  when  Frankie  rode the  magnificent  Seven at Ascot  my firm lost £300000000000k  many firms  never  went  racing again   ..its only a bit of fun  ask  Garry  Wiltshire   now that man  was a gambler ........

the only aim of betting is to make money at the end of the day.. for you maybe its a small amount but for others its alot greater..
its not going to be "fun" losing on here all time

Stevie
That's where you're wrong.
For some, actually quite a few, making money from betting is not the one and only only aim.
If it is for you, then you have my extreme sympathies.
That's not to say that you throw your money away, but there is a pleasure/reward factor going on in gambling, not just only a risk/reward one.
An otherwise extremely boring sporting fixture can take on new elements of excitement if you have a few pennies on it in some way ( but only if they are pennies you can truthfully afford to lose).

It matters more when there's money on it .

It shouldn't if you're doing it for recreational purposes.
Horses for courses really.
Report stevies5_mufc • November 4, 2010 6:07 PM GMT
FINE AS FROG HAIR i know what you mean but...

i dont like the idea of betting just to bet and lose money most likely...

i have to admit i enjoy having a bet on a game in the evening when im watching it but it has to be something im confident in and would like to make money off.. not just lose
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 7:04 PM GMT
Ive had problems in the past stevie, betting with stakes that have left me with knots in my stomache, never again.
As i said earlier laying is extremely difficult in horse racing.

I`ve started going to the bookies again after many years on here and believe it or not i enjoy it, banter and real life characters.

Saturdays usually,go over road have a couple of pints and a few bets.
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 7:09 PM GMT
stevie - i have most success on football when i follow my instinct, no form or stats, just instinct. Usually my bet will just jump out at me. Also on the same note i don`t take notice of the price. If its 4/7 its 4/7 - 4/1 its 4/1 i don`t spend time looking for value bets.Hope that makes sense.
Report stevies5_mufc • November 4, 2010 7:12 PM GMT
interesting shane.. best of luck... i want to see if possible to pick 25 10/1s to lose in a week though.. (not by luck but actually by skill and select the ones that you have reasoning to back up)
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 7:20 PM GMT
I like to take many on when they seem to be above a winning mark and also have no form over c/d, surprising how many are a layable price.
Report Shanelee1966 • November 4, 2010 7:22 PM GMT
Im laying Everton away at Blackpool on Saturday. Been really impressed with them & WBA this season.
