Sometimes I place a bet and instead of the countdown clock it say processing bet and nothing happens. Then sometimes up to 3 mins later the bet finally gets submitted.
Also experiencing terrible lag now when submitting requests like cancelling etc..

yes it has happend to me before, i think the way for you to see your bets is by going to  "Account" and in "Current Bets" you can see if the bet was matched or you can cancel it if its unmatched

Yes parrys. Very irritating.
Had just assumed it was a combination of slow internet and slow computer. e.g. sometimes, just updating spreadsheets I have to wait for the cell to be filled before entering in the next cell.

Lus the bet is not there to be cancelled, matched etc and has gone into the ether somewhere to be finally submitted (how I dont know) at some random point in the future. I know this because sometimes the price has moved substantially.
I am left sitting there thinking is this bet going to turn up in a few minutes or not ? The only way I have been able to stop it is to make sure my balance is to low.

Happened earlier in the cricket. Went to lay 10 @ 1.09. processing.......... finally appeared 3 minutes later and got matched @ 1.01 !!!  WTF ??

happening every 1 in 20 bets making it impossible to trade with any confiedence. Nobody any idea why this is happening ?

Parrys, are you using the Betfair website, or software such as Gruss, Geeks Toy etc? I've always found that betting via the website is virtually impossible in comparison.
Report parrys • November 3, 2010 9:28 PM GMT
I use geeks toy to monitor the prices but use the website for firing in bets. This has only happened the last few days and would love to know why.
I am guessing it is my internet connection, which has been very slow of late, but why do some of my bets end up having in effect a 3 min delay ?
Report Trevh • November 3, 2010 9:33 PM GMT
Because the website is freezing when you fire the bet in I would guess, and taking any anount of time to unfreeze and submit. Why don't you use Geeks Toy to place bets? I've got a true 20meg connection but BF website is still so horrendously slow as to be unusable.
Report parrys • November 3, 2010 11:02 PM GMT
geeks toy freezes on me especially during the daytime.

the website doesn't seem to be freezing as the prices are still moving after the bet disappears and the delay seems identical everytime (about 2.5-3 mins).

I use the website, and that's never happened to me. I can see it would be extremely annoying.

I have lost money due to technical faults though. Sometimes when goals are scored, the screen doesn't update. So I place bets thinking the score is say 0-0 when it's 1-0. In 2009 I lost hundreds on this during a Liverpool match. These days I get round it by constantly having some bets listed. Even though the screen doesn't update, your bets will dissappear, so you know something has happened.

Blimey Investor, I'm amazed that you use the website. I just can't begin to imagine how I would cope trying to do that! I would end up killing the computer! I seriously can't imaginge how anyone can bet using the website, but obviously they do.

Btw Parrys, a friend of mine who is too tight to pay the £6/month for Gruss uses the website, and has exactly the same problems as you have descibed above.
Report The Investor • November 4, 2010 12:46 AM GMT
I have a very specific unusual setup that means it's better for me to use the website with custom add-ons to control the browser than it is to use one of the commercial apps.

I will move to a custom built application within the next 6 months though.

thanks for the replies. Anyway its given me an incentive to giving the ladder interface on geeks toy a go, so far so good,
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • November 4, 2010 1:16 AM GMT
The website is fine for my normal pre-off type betting.
Wouldn't know about all the IR and other trading type activities.
But if Investor can use it without problem, then you would have to say that parrys' problems must somehow be at his end of things.
Report Trevh • November 4, 2010 1:22 AM GMT
You don't have to use the ladder interface though (personally I find a ladder interface a bit restrictive), the standard interface will give you a similar view to the website (on Gruss anyway, never tried Geeks Toy) with a refresh from 0.2 seconds up, and all your current markets loaded and swapped with one click, so you know exactly what your position is in each market.

I get it too but Betfair2 is blocked to me by IE as it does not meet the Security Certificate standards.
