It's a point and click system, but is it a winning one?
![]() When I analysed the last twelve months of in-play matches, both backing all or laying all odds on away shots showed a loss. If doing just the English leagues turns that into a profit I would be quite suprised. |

I read a piece about this a couple of seasons ago,
covering the 5 previous seasons and backers faced big losses, above 10%. Perhaps the bigger prices on Betfair eliminate that loss or at least lessen it. I always give short priced a second look, especially in the second part of the season. |

Kenilworth, you surprise me. When I posted something similar several months ago saying I never back odds on / away and often put several of them in a multiple (I think the thread was "what is your favorite multiple"), you hit me with how every game has it's own merits, etc.
Then you turn around with a "click and win".....hmmmm |

Shapeshifter, first of all the thread title was meant to be a bit tongue and cheek, with regards another thread,
but also you will see I did say ''I always give short priced a second look, especially in the second part of the season.'' not quite point and click you will agree. Re your previous post, ''I never back odds on / away and often put several of them in a multiple'' is that not a contradiction in itself ? I'm confused. |

Look for games with likes of Barca, Real, Man Ure, Arsenal, Chelsea etc... at home to an average side.
If the away side happen to get a goal and be winning, lay them. They rarely manage to hang on for the win. It's something you can do if the stronger team are also away from home. Chelsea away at Blackburn today for example. Or Real Madrid away to Hercules (although Hercules played well in the 1st half so I won't be bothering). |

You'd be waiting a long time between bets. Then when you can do that you have to lay at a high price because everyone expects the fav to turn it around. But do they turn it around? Hercules hung on at Barca , West Brom at Arsenal... |

SHAPESHIFTER, why does it take you
so long to post a response ? Are you THAT busy ? ![]() |

Pastie...in-running a totally different game than at the off. I actually will lay the fave's if go sub-1.2's early on if I have two or more losing lays in-play at the time. It takes one to fold to a draw to balance the books a bit.
kenilworth....yes, a life beyond betfair, especially on weekends. All lays were placed at 11 this morning then off in the car with Mrs Shapeshifter, Shapeshifter jr and Princess Shapeshifter. Plenty of fresh air beyond the pixels. Back on now to place my NHL and see how the football balanced (looks like +3 pts / after-timing [;)] ) During the week, not in the forum as much. One of my mentors told me that if I have time to read the forum, I have time to do more research which pays better [;)]. Now, back to a dodgy bottle of Chilean that read better than it tastes. |
