Is this the norm that anything you withdraw after noon on a Thursday takes until Tuesday to arrive? Plain

I think it might be sth like banks do. they hold your money between transfers and can use it meanwhile and also not paying you % of your money which you hold in the bank meanwhile also cause the money is not there but inbetween somewhere.

Also interesting thing is that when you trade and go red then money is taken from your account immediately but when you are green then you do not get the money until the market has been settled. So that means that betfair again can use the money meanwhile because it is not on te losers account anymore and it is not in the winners account yet.

Tier - how do Betfair use the money?

I think you'll find this is unlikely, as all deposited funds are ringfenced.
Report tier October 19, 2010 8:16 PM BST
yep it might be unlikely and I dont know how they use it or if they even use it. That was just a speculation that they might because they certainly can because money is in their account meanwhile(because it is not on losers account anymore and not on winners yet)
So You know how money greedy they are with charges and so on they just might take advantage of that because sitting money never grows. And banks do it all the time. Of course there is a risk losing it and that must be covered and always is. Clients will get their money but in meanwhile why make your 1 million grow through investments when you can grow your 1 million and 1 million of clients money. Banks do it all the time...

I mean take simple example. If you put your money in bank. They pay you every year lets say 1% profit (I dont know how much it is honestly in your country I dont even know from where you are from :))because you held your money in their bank. now what betfair could very easily do is to hold that money which is inbetween accountsin some bank and therefore make money to themselves through this % using your money.

And you know how that is in life. If dog CAN lick his balls he certainly WILL.
Report Stupiderlikeafox October 21, 2010 9:04 AM BST
A bit like you and I, BF can't reach these particular balls in order to lick them.

If your balls are ringfenced, you're unable to do anything with them.
Report tier October 21, 2010 10:51 AM BST
yep its a shame about our balls but look wider and You will see that it is very easy and totally leagal to make money from tied up money.

I'm sure that You Yourself have money in some kind of bank account and every year they pay You some kind of % only for that that You held Your money in their bank. Am I right?

If YES then think about Betfair and their bank account. The money that is not on losers accounts anymore and not on winners account yet is held by Betfair in their account. And they get money from that bank they hold it in. It is simple and legal. You probably dont notice that tiny sum You get from bank each year cause this % is very small and I dont either but think about the sums that are moved inside betfair. Now when You withdraw Your money and they "process" it in 3 days. That means that they get 3 days worth % to their account due to that little fact that this money was in meantime in their account. Do You get it now? Like I said earlier banks do make millions with that exact scheme and it is legal.

If NO then I'm sorry about Your balls only because obviously You have chosen wrong bank or every bank is a wrong bank in Your country :P

You're like a dog with a bone.

I know about bank delays in processing payments, but that's not what I was talking about.

BF cannot use deposited money. It is kept separate.
Report tier October 21, 2010 4:38 PM BST
And what do You think where it is kept? In deep freze? If You know about it then You should understand by now because You should know why there are processing delays...
Report Bobman84. October 21, 2010 6:49 PM BST
Wouldn't surprise me. Many markets where your bet loses close almost straight away but if you win sometimes they take a while to settle - even if the results are official as soon as the race/event finishes.
