We all know what trap bets are on this site but could be said of the following bet put up by one of the main high street bookies.

Under snooker specials they have John Higgins to be world number one the day after next years world championships.

The odds are 11/8 which seems very very low and the reason i say its a trap bet is because they have not priced up Higgins not be world number one.

Are these bets when bookies only put up only one price of an event happening or not happening a trap bet when they will not put up odds on the reverse outcome?

EH

So they go 10,000/1 that aliens are in Westminster but you want the other side?

Try ringing them. End of day if someones 11/8 the other side would be 8/15,1/2

A certain Irish firm who only take bets from idiots went 1000/1 Father Ted to be next pope. Seem to remember Bono was listed too.

Korals were doing this on 'Back both teams to score' but there was no column for 'Back both teams not to score.

I remember when hills offered a price of 4/1 on the West Ham v Spurs match being replayed when the visitors had food poisoning. Had they offered the reverse price on it not being replayed, it would have been like getting 1/7 on the sun rising the following day. Needless to say it didn't happen, and some utter mugs thought "ooh, it's only 4/1, they must think it has a chance of happening, better have a few quid on it" Laugh

I'll re-phrase. Billy Hills have a coupon "will both teams score" and you can choose 'Yes' or 'No'.
Korals coupon only has one column. "will both teams score" and you can only choose 'Yes'.

I wouldn't call them "trap bets", in general.  I prefer the terms "con" or "rip off" as they reflect more accurately how the bookies go about their business.
