Hello everyone I am currently looking to become a trader and I am looking for advice on strategy's or ideas on where to start.  I had an account about 4 years ago on betfair and I didn't really think about trading then so it says I haven't been here   very long I actually have.

I would like advice on staking plans should I be laying % of bank or should I have a percent of bank target to hit? What should I start with as a bank to trade with? What sports are best to trade? I have spent about 2 months  on Google with these questions but I have had no luck with finding honest advice just a lot of people with screen shots   of football matches where they have greened up 2 grand on each outcome then they want to sell you this system for 47 quid ect.

I know I am going to get a lot of negative responses from a lot of you but I am hoping to reach the select few that can offer me some sound advice on where to begin. I understand that from my weeks performance I need discipline as I have made 20 quid turn in to 0 quid in 6 days so I need to never chase losses.

Thanks for reading and I will look forward to the comments    Grin

Are you going to use software?  If so, are you going to pay a monthly fee or make use of a free one?

Trading bets on BF is no different to trading anything else.

Buy low, sell high, and keep your inventory to a minimum.

Its been said previously on here if you haven't got a profitable system all automation will allow you to do is put losing bets on more quickly.

If you can, start with more than £20 otherwise it will take forever to make any sort of progress.

Put simply, look for wrong prices in running. Or offer some and hope they get taken.

Two years too late for racing , no problem with football though , good luck.

What knowledge do you have of football ?
Be honest now.
Sure you know the names of the teams and players etc and a few snippets on info. you read in the press about how good or bad they are.
But do you call that knowledge in a true betting sense.

You don't need knowledge of the particular sport. You just need some maths and some programming ability.

Disagree with the above comment - if you can get your bets on faster and get a better price because of it - automation could easily turn a losing system into a winning one - or maybe just not as bad as it was.

I agree Contrarian.

That's a big if Stans.
I think the other poster was saying that most people think that if they could just jump in and out faster and more easily, that they would axiomatically earn more money. All they would do probably, is just lose more money.
There are exceptions of course, and you might be one, but the general point is valid I think.

dan "I would like advice on staking plans should I be laying % of bank or should I have a percent of bank target to hit?"

(1) %5 of bank imho and
(2) avoid having targets and
(3) read all the other threads for the reasons why you should never have a target.
