How much do you expect to earn from work in a lifetime, after taxes.
For most people £1million would be the target for 45 years' work. How many will earn that from gambling? |

a small few

I have averaged just over 4k profit p.a. here over the last 4 years which is a crap daily total (around 11 quid a day) but pays for a couple of nice trips away each year. I think it is very difficult to do this as a job full time. It must be emotionally difficult.

If you're betting in the manner where you are continually making subjective, emotion driven, border line decisions, then it would be nigh on impossible to keep going for very long.
Unless you can systemize your betting to the level where the decisions on what and how much to bet are virtually decided for you, then just do it all for fun and don't expect or even try to make a living out of it. Basically if you cannot find a true mathematical edge of some form or manner, then you will not and can not win long term. |

i think its all down to how much you enjoy betting .
if you can scrape by on 200-250 a week and have a modest living ,then thats fine as youre in a job you love . if you find betting a chore ,then 400 wouldnt be enough if you could otherwise earn 500 . if youre 18 and can make it pay to the tune of 200 pw and live with the 'rents then you must be the envy of all your mates |

i see what you mean coach..
i would like to be able to make 1.5k a month probably (Currently) but would hope to make more than that in the future as money becomes more necessary when renting housing or buying etc shame i currently cant make 1.5k a month ![]() |

By:
how much would you be happy to make per day off betfair as a fulltime job?
More and more. I enjoy doing this, but I think it would get a little boring if there was no scope for improvement. If I was making £100 a day or £1000 a day, I would still find other things to do alongside it if there was no way to improve upon that. Improve your skills, learn, do something you enjoy and where there are opportunities, financial rewards are a natural consequence. |

It's debatable whether you could call this a 'job' by the way, as it's unearned income [;)]

Stevies , best to get your mortgage and loans in place before you ever go FT gambling [;)]

Good advice coach, especially now that self-cert is gone.
I got a mortgage in 2007 when I was still employed. It's on a house in Holland that I rent out. Get a tiny rental income after mortgage and costs, but more importantly I can slowly build up equity. I was able to get it financed to the tune of 120% of value, which probably won't be possible again in our lifetimes ![]() I live in London and rent an apartment from a friend (even renting can be tricky without a job). It's not too much of a handicap though. For me tying up my own money in property, only makes sense if you are already quite wealthy. The yields on property in nice parts of London is very low, so it usually makes sense to rent, or invest in something with a higher yield. |

stevies5_mufc,
Yes I'm serious. I do this full-time, and if I'm earning less than the equivalent of about £100k/year, I might as well be doing something else. |
