Q) One of the more interesting components of exchange wagering is “in-race” betting. From a technology standpoint, considering that there are delays in transmission because of the industry’s use of satellite technology to broadcast races, how can Betfair make that happen with certainty that no “past posting” takes place?
SB) Betfair has the most sophisticated audit trail of any wagering company and we would welcome the opportunity to bring that technology to the United States. Of course, we will only do so if the racing regulators are comfortable that all customers have a level playing field.

Maybe we could have a level playing field here too.... strange Betfair cant produce fast streams but the irish firm did so inadvertently.

paulickreport.com has to be the worst web site i have ever seen.
If anyone has a suggestion as to how to circumvent the various technical issues to help overcome the variance in service I am sure the broadcasters would be delighted to hear from you or you could let us know and we'll take it up directly with them.

So you would bet on the Betfair internet broadcast as definitely being the fastest picture. The real problem issue for integrity is people betting when located at the actual event. That would require legal action worldwide to circumvent, so won't happen. Betfair could stop accepting bets coming from within 50 miles, say, of the event location to try to balance things out.

We do have a level playing field here. But if you chose to use slow pictures thats you're problem. We also have bots that help trading, but many chose to not have that advantage, and we have databases of form and ratings, but if someone wants to use the a tabloid it's their choice. If you try and nanny everyone there would be no betting.
Legally and technologically there is no such thing as a level playing field. I can always beat any pictures you have due to speed of light limitations. I can always go to the track/field/whatever and cut out anything from 0.5-1.5 seconds.
Legally, you will never get international cooperation on banning at-course betting.
Someone will always have an edge over you if they *really* want to put the work in. The intelligent thing to do is work out when diminishing returns start to come in from these edges and put in enough work to beat most people most of the time.

We may never have a level playing field, but at the moment we have the complete opposite. A small group of people creaming off most of the money.
