They do come in as i've laid one before now  .... 16p / £160.00 pay out .

i would say they arrive around every 1,200 on average ,although a surprising amount (probably most)of these bets are bought AFTER the event .

I've put money up at 1000 before that didn't get matched on two events on the same day, and both of them happened!

The fact that my money didn't get matched shows that the chance of it happening was well below 1000/1, I estimate about 10000/1 for both.

Lyon v Plebennec offered to lay the draw in Half Time market at a score of 2-0 for 1000 in the 45th minute. Result: 2-2

Hamilton v Rangers offered to lay Hamilton in Half time market at a score of 1-2 for 1000 in the 45th minute. Result: 3-2

Coach, I would say they come in less than once every 2000 on average (in football). It's not only hoovering, but also lots of bets getting matched at 1000 simply because that is the limit (like Blackpool winning the Premier League). I guess you could get the actual answer if you wanted to trawl through the data.

Largest odds I lost at laying was 240.
Largest odds I won at backing was 200.

Investor ,maybe on average  yes...as you point out there are many bets which should be 10,000 -1 .

On the  original question of asking if there was a chance of any of them coming in , i still say they can be good value if you know what youre looking for ...most of the ones i lay (and get matched easily ) tend to have around the 1,200 - 1,400 chance .
The ones i back tend to have a 600/1 chance .

People don't tend to get involved otherwise.....

Whoever backs Blackpool to win the epl outright needs certifying  Happy

Well that's no strictly true.  It wasn't a straight up effort as it involved a mistake but it was 1000.0 all the same.

Liverpool vs Stoke in the season before last.

Liverpool "scored" early doors with the camera and probably the crowd only watching the players celebrating.  But it disallowed for offside.

In the meantime somebody who casually hoovers such money available on the corect score market every day of the week laid everything outstanding at 0-0 (and presumably the other scores that involved Liverpool not scoring) at 1000.0 and was in the smelly stuff for the rest of the match, which did indeed finish 0-0 and somebody (not me in case you're wondering) had a fair result even if they went all green there and then.

There's several different " types " of 1000 .....

Sports events when the event has clearly finished but 1000 gets matched due to either someone unaware or mostly to allow people to free up funds as the settlement could take longer than necessary.

Events that clearly look done and dusted ( especially horse racing )but have the risk element , AP has had a couple this year amongst others.

The best of the lot are the ones that can't possibly win with the prime example being fallen horses , several quid matched on every faller in British racing and nearly all down to fast pics , true definition of free money and easily the most preferable method.

My one was 5-10 quid, I forget which, (laid off around evens) and Five Leaves Lost had the same bet on Sylvia to be evicted from Big Brother when she wasn't up for eviction.

It wasn't just a wild stab in the dark though. Not only was she an evil cow but there was an incredibly good chance that Alex (Who was up for eviction) would be booted out and cancel the whole process.

It's always easy in hindsight, but if Alex to be just booted out for rulebreaking was 10s and Sylvia was 7/2 or something for the eviction if re-started, well, you do the math.... I always wish I'd had more on it but ah well at least I got it

Score was 1-0 and "Mexico" scored a goal that was disallowed, except nobody saw that it had been disallowed because Eurosport were showing a replay of the "goal" so the score was displayed as 2-0

South Korea or whoever it was scored shortly after to equalise and the score was then displayed as 1-1

Not sure what price was matched.

There was a Brazil v Ireland game a few months ago (can't remember if it was Rep or Northern) where £500 was matched at 900-1000, because the teams were the wrong way round either on Betfair or tv, so people thought the scores were the opposite.
Report The Investor June 3, 2010 10:46 PM BST
Here you go, this is directly from Betfair historical data, and dwarfs the amounts others mention. £1,000 matched at 1000 as someone thought the score was 2-0 rather than 0-2, as it was displayed the wrong way around on tv.

I said £500 because the amount matched is always doubled by BF, so someone or some group of people collectively lost £500,000 on this. The "100" you see in between teh odds and the money matched refers to the number of bets placed.

an example then would be, a 6-2 scoreline at 1000 gets taken along with the 7-2 - now it's just the 6-2 -no interest in the 7-2
