Who let the dogs out?

The exile lippy , seeing the old forum walls crumble took his chance and sneaked past the betfair guards . His lifetime in forum exile at an end

betfair cust services post was very strange. I don't think it was from betfair.

It said something about nothing had changed. Can't remember word for word.

The light blue on white is rather hard on the eyes , especially when looking at a long list of topics

it was betfair customer services. whoever it was forgot they were logged into that account.

they posted after midnight (bored?) and said something that the forum hasnt changed that much and the lack of changes was deliberate, hinting its just the start of alot more changes to come.

slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Each post seems to take up more space in total and the overall screen designed seems less structured. Havent used it enough yet to see what the counter benefits are...

"Im sure betfair will add more features as time goes on. "

Please don't encourage them.

thats the whole point of this, new features.

betfair see this new forum as the equivalent to "old" forum, just on new platform. They have given it their best shot and come up with this, which they think looks and performs like the old one.

The move to new platform was for new features. They will be trialed in the beta testing and then rolled out into the new "new" forum.

New features will finish this place off, although it looks like they've done a fine job of finishing it off without them.

Nobody likes change, but it was almost perfect before they messed with it and there are so many things wrong now it's unreal.

yeah thats the worrying bit. This change was supposed to be "seamless" in that it was just the underlying technology & platform that would change. User experience should have remained the same.

I don't like the way the menu of topics scrolls with the thread page. What does the refresh button do now, it does nothing for me. The pages take longer to load, was almost instant before. Sorry but can't see any positives at all.

look at these two links.

Most of the features on this new platform have been turned off, to make it similar to the old forum.

Its only a matter of time before they trial the new features and possibly roll them in to this forum.

I dont mind the new  features as such but it raises alot of questions ala facebook about privacy etc. never mind the layouts and performance issues.

Good find Brendan.

Can only assume that they actually want to kill off the forums. I can think of good reasons that I'm not keen to post that would support that plan.

would give them benefit of the doubt for now. I think its misguided attempt to have a betting facebook at the moment.

Anyone who likes facebook would be on facebook. So i dont think this idea has much mileage. Social Networks were a buzz few years back, since then bebo has closed and not sure if anyone but the very largest players make any money from them

They would be better spending the money on better understanding their customers needs.

This smacks of someone with social network background being appointed "head of betfair comunities" and being bringing in ideas that work in one sector but have no history of working on betting sites.
