frustrating day Sunday , finished up +£1.44 , but got the bank to £306 ( so had trebled start bank) and would have been happy to end on £300 but layed the last winner ( and 4 others out of the last 10 races ) to fall to £294 .

So So Day :|

Only here for the evening racing , profit £6.10 , would have been better but layed the winner of the last, NHF again ffs . Could have been a bad day though as layed Sam Sharp @6/1 which was called the winner by the radio pundit.

Closing Balance: £300.29

7.23% profit overall

Lays: 220
Profit: +6.04% after comm.
Total Liability: £2552.18

Lost today though. Laid 4 consecutive winners this afternoon and also lucky to get away with Sam Sharp.Primary Colors was my best winner but would have been the days big loser had it won.Lost on Sir Frank in the last too.

Hello my fellow bookies!

Results for April:
Total Stake laid:$2 805,41
Total Profit:$264,99
Percentage Profit: 9,45%

Small profit day after that Bollywood crushed my book at the start of the day. Steadily won it back and Primary Colors put the book into the green.

Welll, it's simple really. I lay starting at prices under the bookies, and keep laying any steamers. I add an extra premium for small field races and I will sometimes increase my prices to try and keep my book somewhat balanced. How about you?
By:
tobermory
When: 28 Apr 10 18:28
I will lay anything at all in theory

Though i am trying gradually to reduce the maximum % liabilty per race .

I started with 10% , which was £10 with my start bank , so could only lay 6.0 at biggest .That was too high but i would have been too bored to do it if i'd set it at 5% as hard to find a 5/2 to lay in most races so would have been hanging around twiddling thumbs and probaly packed it in.

Reduced to 8% before bank reached £200 and then 7% , so when i was/am in the 290s i can lay up to 11.0 , at £300 it is reduced to 6% so currently only laying up to 10.0 ,though the top price will increase incrementally at £310 £320 etc and when hit $400 will reduce to 5%

Not saying too much about it Snapper here :)

Though i don't look at bookies odds and not bothered about balancing the book.
By:
TheSnapper
When: 28 Apr 10 18:49
I understand...too many backers around (LOL!). I try and lay around 1-2% of my bank per lay, up to 5% max liability per race, so we seem to be of the same mindset. Good luck with it, my fellow bookie!

When: 28 Apr 10 20:31
i wouldn't say 'just' , i have a very precise , though pretty simple, method , that is applied to every race . But it does involve that yes . I have filters , but it is all based on the market , the horses are just names on the screen to me.

I went through the BTO thead recently . I recall looking at that when it started and never looked past the 1st few posts (where the question is answered) so wondered why it was running to so many pages but not curious enough to lllook at the time.

I noticed some people said BTO was a fantasist but i think he is a winner on here. He has contradicted himself on other threads but i don't think he is dishonest, seems to have a very active mind which produces fluid thinking . Some of his ideas seemed odd IMO ,but i think he does ok as his main approach is sound

Storm Kirk just pretty much completed a dreadful day for me there, worst by far since i began.

Carnage on these NHF :D

Was looking at the stats the other day and though it was my worst race type , i thought that i'd only bet on 22 of them , so it was too small a sample to just rule them out . That's 3 in a row of them now that i've lost on saince though.

Have to review that i think.

Some of his ideas seemed odd IMO

I mean some of the methods/criteria he says he is using , which on previous threads he seems to rule out . Probabaly changes details of his approach frequently, but does ok long term i reckon.

Today, you're having the type of day I used to have regularly.
If you can, look at the price bands and work out which (if any) are profitable.

I layed the 2nd lol
By:
tobermory
When: 28 Apr 10 20:52
Yes , i need to do that , i have all the stats on Races , profit/loss ,liabilty , race type etc , but haven't bothered to add all the prices matched on individual horses . I will be suprised if this or that price is better or worse but thats just my assumption .

Had bets on 14 Races today , lost on 8 ( strike rate a consistent 75% before today) .
