I know it has been disabled but I am really curious to see how I can trade in play with virtual money.

I reckon i've seen software which lets you trade pretend money, can't remember where or when though.

Post it here if you remember.

City of London, they thought it was play money but turned out it was yours and mine :(

There's one called www.betfairandsquare.com that simulates bets but uses the free api so realistically it'd be useless for the fast in running markets but might be worth trying.

Just downloaded it, but why exactly do they require the username and password from a FUNDED account, to let you place virtual bets?

Why don't you just do it with very small stakes?
Report Ghetto Joe April 19, 2010 1:26 PM BST
bib it uses the free API to get the data so you need to log into betfairs API. Should only need to login via the program though and they'd be no need to give the website owners your user/pass.

Rafael's idea is probably better, I think at one time betfair did have a dummy site you could use to practice on but no idea if it's still going or the url

Use Bfexplorer PRO, and switch on the practice mode, then you can trade on any market without risking your money.

I forgot to mention. If you want to use just manual trading on ladders without full support for automated trading Bfexplorer PRO offers, then you can use BXTrader. BXTrader supports the practice mode as well.

I'm trying Bfexplorer, thanks, thanks. Traded with 1000 chunks, 1500 green both sides :D

Bfexplorer does not simulate a bet queue. Your bet is matched if last traded amount is equal or higher than your stake. Therefore if you want to be close to the real situation use reasonable stakes and do not offer your bets, but take what is offered.

If you trade tennis Bfexplorer PRO has a nice tool: Close position by dutching, so if there is not enough money to close position by hedge bet or if by dutching gives bigger profit then you should use it.
