Can my fellow traders give me some advice on the best trading techniques in relation to the 2.5% principle.

The reason I asked is because I have been trying to increase my bank by a minimum of 2.5% per day. This has been going really well and on some days I have made a lot more than my target and therefore I am ahead of my bank target.

But what I have realised is that to achieve my daily increase I have been using largish stakes and now that my bank is getting bigger, the 2.5% target is getting bigger and either my stakes need to get larger or the amount of time I have a liability exposed in the market needs to be longer (not good when trading the unders market!)

After 19 days of this strategy, here is an excerpt of my spreadsheet starting with £100

The Bank Daily Increase
£107.72 £7.72
£111.53 £3.81
£120.42 £8.89
£163.58 £43.16
£196.07 £32.49
£122.89 -£73.18
£227.99 £105.10
£184.80 -£43.19
£292.67 £107.87
£307.82 £15.15
£405.26 £97.44
£428.34 £23.08
£455.88 £27.54
£470.92 £15.04
£489.01 £18.09
£518.14 £29.13
£533.74 £15.60
£586.36 £52.62
£679.99 £93.63

Can I get some thoughts on which markets are best to use. I have been mixing it up with under 2.5 or 3.5 - over 1.5 and maybe trading on first goal, the occasional match odds and also laying the draw.

What I also want some input on is the what stakes should I be using in relation to my bank size.
Sorry about the length of this and cheers guys.

the very first thing I will say is well done because you have been very lucky with staking like that and it is only a matter of time before you go bang.

Personally I would use never more than 5% of my bank and that is the max bet, some people here would not go over 2%.

Anything over 5% imo and you are asking for trouble

I am not using all my bank but as I say have been using some large stakes.

Iv built a few banks with this technique, I prefer to stick to tennis. My only advice is make sure you have a stop loss (Get out when required) & stick to it. I havnt been successful on soccer, it seems any time i backed under 4.5 or even 5.5 goals, within 1 minute a goal gets scored which throws me write off & exceeds my 10 tick stop loss point. Which is way i prefer tennis, there a re many stratagies for tennis (ATP as WTA is not Tennis) The easiest to explain is a player serving for the match. Depending on score and class of opponent u can get in at 15-0 between 1.03 & 1.05. if server closes gets to MP u should be able to lay off for your % profit or if u want to sweat it u can let it ride. Stop loss is very important, If things begin to go pear shaped i always get out at 1.12 or 1.13.. Accept it & move on, dont go chasing, iv done this & its a killer. Ur strategy is 2.5% a day. i aim of 2.5% per market, what with tennis being played near 48 weeks a year & every monday to weds seeing plenty of matches ur bank can grow quicker. My rules are Dont chase, Dont get greedy, get target profit & move on. Im currently rebuilding bank after falling on my no2 rule. started with £50 during Aus open, Target bank was 3k, reached that some time ago now I cash out every profit of everyday & now only do two or three trades a day for nice paydays.

2.5% a day your bank goes up..........you must be the best trader on her ( he syas dangling a spratt to catch a mack....)

I am definitely RISKING TOO MUCH of my bank on THEONETHATGOTAWAY CS LAY thread.....but I've done so from start with £2,000.............but the swings of profit/loss are getting far too much last week or two.....and as Larsenf indicated....I am likely to end up on the rocks....as you surely will at that level of return daily!!!!

STAKING is the hardest factor IMO to control..........BUT I'VE NO IDEA WHAT "BEST" WAY FORWARD IS HAVING GROWN A RELATIVELY SMALL BANK RAPIDLY OVER 13 WEEKS....WITH NO EDGE! ( with football CS LAY betting)....

Looking forward to the reposts you will get re 2.5% a day !!!!!!

Would have thought ROT would be a better measurement of how well you are doing ....... but do you know what that is being a mere TRADER ?

you say you are not using all your bank which is fine, your first losing day you lost nearly HALF your bank. You asked for advice, half your bank gone in a losing day is madness

In my experience, staking plans are a certain loser

When your plan has worked for several years, then I would take notice

This example is certain death

Thanks Pistol - that's useful stuff.

Dlarssonf - you are right that I did lose half a bank very early on, I was taking chances early on but as I have progressed and the bank has got bigger, I have reduced the amount I am using for stakes - currently using about 15% (yes I know that is still too big) but my intention is to carry on reducing to safer levels. I am just looking for advice from anyone who has utilised a good bank management system.
