It's a big weekend of sporting action and I am home alone so outside my normal betting I'm going to have a crack at turning £2,000 into as much as possible by Sunday night. I would have put this in the Your Competitions section but it isn't a competition. Hopefully there'll be a bit of general betting banter as the weekend progresses and we can make a few dollars in the process.

5% of bank maximum stake or 10% max liability on lays
Horses and Football mainly, but I may have a punt on the Masters

I'll try and post reasoning for each bet if time allows and any suggestions or thoughts will be most welcome. Finally, in the words of Mr Zipper it's only a bit of fun!

Starting with this afternoon's racing I've got a little racing database and the stats look favourable for Burton Port in the Aintree 2:35 so I'm going to have £50 at SP as I think he'll drift a bit from 4.4. Ogee looks sure to run a big race but I had BP down to be 11/4 so 7/2+ looks like a bit of value.

Fantastic start Homer - should be a nice SP too, was around 6.2 at the off compared to 5 on course

Cheers Hugh he returned 6.14 SP which is an incredibly good price :)

New bank £2249.44

In the 3:10 Aintree I've shortlisted Kalahari King, Monet's Garden and Jack the Giant but the odds all look a bit lower than I'd be wanting so no bet unless there's a reasonable drift on one of them.

A small £25 on Musical Bridge at 14.5 in the next at Musselboro. I find horses that can handle similar tracks do well at Muss and this one fits the bill at a decent price although he's now 16.5 :(

Well that one didn't work out but only £25 lost so new bank £2224.44

Back to Musselboro again for the 4-00 race and another long shot in Coolella for £25 at SP. Not one for a big bet but might just surprise with a good run and at around 20 it's worth a shot. Orpen Arms was the other one that my stats threw up but the price is a bit short if anything so I'll leave that one out.

Incidentally I've always fancied going back over the results for the horse at the bottom of the Betfair list. I keep seeing them go in and if you could cope with long losing runs I think it may be profitable. Maybe set a maximum price of around 100 or something to avoid the complete donkeys. Just a thought.

Someone, i think it may have been valueseeker, used to do that and showed a profit over quite a long period of time

Doesn't surprise me buzzer - must be some pretty scary losing runs but I guess they're underbet long term.

How are those 0-0's doing? I'm sure it was you that was the 'rogue' in Delz 1+ goal thread!!
Report buzzer April 9, 2010 4:10 PM BST
'rogue'? ;) not many, if any, showed a profit did they?
Report Homer Jay Simspon April 9, 2010 4:12 PM BST
I think Jailer may have done - said he was banking along the way and that long run must have made him a few dollars. Otherwise I reckon a fair amount of cash was tipped into the shark (rogue) pool ;)

Orpen Arms 1st and Coolella 2nd at 15.0 but absolutely nada for me so new bank £2199.44. It's a tad annoying when that happens.

Next race for me is the 4:20 Aintree and I've staked £50 on Voramar Two at 7.8 and £25 on Lord Generous at 12.0 based on their form over this distance, backed up with one or two other stats.

New bank £2100. Absolute guff in that race so moving swiftly on I've staked the vast sum of £12.22 on each of two horses in the 5:30 bumper at Aintree ... Lovey Dovey and Alpine Breeze are overpriced in my book and worth a small split wager at big prices - I'll take SP. You never know in these bumpers.

After that the Musselboro stats point to Zaplamation and Provost in the 5:40 race and I think Provost is way overpriced so £50 at 11 on that one and £25 on Zap at 5 just in case (reckon price is there or thereabouts).

Going to walk the hound now and enjoy the sunshine :)

Zap did the honours there and the bank's back up to £2148.50 which isn't too shabby. Next race will be the 7-15 at Wolves if I stay awake that long.
