I simply want to work out the average odds of winning horses, going back over a long period.

Any help appreciated, ty chaps.

Find the average price of winners,then lay everything under that price.

look at favourites find which jockey has a blue hat and back the others, I think you'll find this will work just as well as tame tigers suggestion.

In decimal odds, I make it about 7.64 on the flat and 6.92 over the jumps.

Thanks for all the help gents. My first stop was Massey's, but couldn't find quite what I wanted. Probably not looking in the right place. Found it on betfair data now though.

223 - interesting. I'll see how close my figure is to yours.

The averages I gave were industry SPs over the last 14 years.

That's very kind of you. Unusual for someone to be willing to share what must have been a fair bit of work? Hardly makes it worthwhile me doing my own... I can't beat 14 years worth!

Keep it short , this is my take On The One 223 .. you are spot on son .. but heres a clue .. why the jumps beat the flat ..... easy when they go over the jumps .. we know more about them ....... most have run on the flat .......
