Whilst browsing ( doesn't matter which browser I use ) I keep getting 'problems loading page/cannot connect to server' notifications when I click on a website.

However when I click the 'try again' option on this page it takes me to the site I require straight away.

Basically I have to click twice to get to where I want to be.

I've got 3 laptops hooked up to a netgear router and the problems have only occurred since I started using it.

I'm on vista.

Anyone know why this is happening?

I've cleared the cache etc. etc.

TIA.

Looks like your machines are contesting. Go into your router and set individual IP addresses for each computer in the DHCP server.

Thanks Gallivanter. I'm not good at this stuff ,could you tell me where I do all that?
I know how to get to my router set-up page :)

Had a little look round. Is it in Lan setup?

Enable DHCP Server if it isn't already enabled.

Set the Start & End IP Addresses for each computer to a unique number, eg,

Computer One
Start IP Address: 192.168.1.2
End IP Address: 192.168.1.2

Computer Two
Start IP Address: 192.168.1.3
End IP Address: 192.168.1.3

and so on.

You might also want to reduce the MTU from about 1500 down to 1000.

Finally, get a better router. :-)

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go :)

Or try just having one PC on, and set the IP address manually and see if you still have a problem.

Whats the model of the router? There may be a firmware update for it.

Cheers Jimbo, I'll try that too.
