Before people moan im just doing this so as i can record some thoughts down and see what i was thinking at times. Was looking at using a blog but cant be arsed siging up. I know im in for some abuse here but ive had it before on here, and i'll get it again.
Ive basically had a torrid time of things and am gonna use this thread to record my p/l, maybe for a while to see if it helps me with my discipline, having lost about 200k in the past 3 months.
Starting bank 10k and as normal i'll be playing IR from home using SIS and RUK.
No, but many more days like this and i might reconsider

i feel no different. Although i dont have any money troubles that previously could stress anyone out when potless. But theres no change of feeling every morning from when i was playing in my foirst few years. Its wake up looking forward to playing on here so i can pit my wits against everyone else and try and come out on top. then go hiome, and basically just look forward to tomorrow to do it all again

Ok, well I'm new and starting with next to nothing, but if I've learned anything recently it's that you need a substantial amount to begin to have any hope of being sufficiently successful, you probably began with large amounts giving yourself that advantage, if ever there was a case for speculating to accumulate, than it's right here on Betfair! I'm enjoying it too even though we're in different leagues, kills time whilst my broken foot heals, and then I can go back to the real working world where I know I can make money[:)]

You don't need to start with a substantial amount, what makes you think that? Start small and if you're any good it soon mounts up, start with a large amount and your long odds on to end up with a very small amount, if anything at all!

you dont need a big bank roll. Thats a myth really. I started with next to nothing but had no outgoings so only needed to withdraw my weekly berr money and could leave the remaining funds in here to grow.
Luckily i lived with my dad for a few years whilst my bank roll got bigger and bigger and he paid for things like sky, the internet, and food to feed my bug fat appitite. So basically i had no pressure on myself to make anything substantial quickly. I had a 5 years plan for myself but it thankfuilly snowballed alot more quickly than that.
Anyways home tome now. A losing day but one i can love wioth

Koo, very interesting reply, but maybe than if you and Buzzer are saying you don't need to begin with a large bank than I guess it's all about finding your niche market, so to speak.

It must have taken absolutely ages to find this thread with a 6 month gap. You should post that losing week this summer Koo when you dropped either a 100 or 200K, now that takes some stomaching imo!

I imagine Koo lives and breathes horses with a passion, and reads them like the back of his hand, but I would have thought a select few others do too, and of course many thousands of up and coming triers thrown into the mix make it ever more competitive.

Me neither, but a select few do if they have fast pictures and know the animals they're looking at inside out, ears pricked, whips up, and all that stuff lol.
Then there's the bot merchants who know nothing about the animals but everything about the bettors reactions.
Not forgetting the form studiers, how they make it pay is a total mystery to me.

There are people who make living out of betting and I dare to say that Koo possibly is not even in the top 10 (i may be wrong).
Its not just turning telly on and having a bet. These pro punters with a slight exaggeration dedicate their lives to the game, they live and breath racing. And its pretty time confusing. They are learning about horses all the time, they know horses forms, they can read whats happening throughout the race, they know every track in and out, not forgetting jockeys and trainers, they can do their maths pretty quick and are rather speedy with their betting. And yes fast pictures help.
If you combine all this together, not many people would have the will power/dedication to last longer than a week in my opinion.
Its like ski jumping or ice skating. Anyone can try but only those few chosen ones can actually make living out of it. Just because someone thinks he should be able to succeed doesn't mean he will.

Its quite funny this got bumped back to the top, as lately i've not been on a great run and decided to start re reading the first 6 months of the thread where i had unprecedented success. Was eye opening to see how my methods had changed and basically made me think i was better off going back to the things that was making me money on this thread.

Still going, the games a mind**** at times. But we keep going. Couldnt wait to tell everyone i was on 9 from 9 winning months this year, first time id ever got past march 3/3. However the last 2 months have wiped probably 4-5 months profits, whilst doing all the same stuff as i've always done.
Still, be playing tomorrow trying to get back in a better frame of mind and a few quid in the wallet.

Had a terrible last 3 months to last year as well which made me start thinking of selling half the bloodstock. So the arrival of the little un shouldnt be considered a variable. Yesterdays biggest bet was twisters that broke its leg and the 2nd biggest was pipes than fell 2 out when it was looking the winner. Just swings and roudabouts this game. Those 2 bad beats the day before that even.
Anyways to cheer everyone up. I won today, so im off for something else out of the fridge :)

7 years on and that might have been about my best ever year on here. Certainly for where i was at the time. I should probably read it all again and take on board some of my own advice and mix it with what I've hopefully learnt since. Cant believe its been that long, even Saptapadi only took 5 years to win another race

Dont know the bloke from Adam but was good enough to reply to an enquiry about Palomar who was due to run in the 2010 Ces. Appeared to have had a new lease of life after dossing up over hurdles at market rasp due to a change of bridle/tack. Backed it e/w at all odds from 50's to 33's, didnt get the clearest of runs but hit 5th place. Top bloke.
Whats the plan with Balty Boys btw? QEll or the Balmoral? Nice dilemma to have - tough as nails that boy.

Struggling badly for the last 2 months. In the same kind of rut i was when when starting this thread, so I thought id come back and read a few pages.
Some quotes resonate strongly now as they did at the time. the less I seem to try the easier it is. Its self induced pressure because you know you have the skill set to avoid the bad runs and you always let yourself down in the same fashion.
Still, studied the redcar card whilst reading a few pages. Hoping ive a few bets there, which i might add on here later after doing the school run.
Hope your keeping well

hi koo i think i posted once on this thread and admired how you do it.but i think to ease all the pressure and begin to really enjoy the fun of it on a daily bases you should go back to not start of this thread but start of time.say for talking sake you have 200 thousand betting bank.on a daily bases start with 1% of total bank which would be 2k and enjoy doing exsactly what you do in smaller terms and take all the stress out it betting in hundreds that way your having total fun hobby yet if you double that 2k 4 times of the 7 days you would be up 2k a week every week but having relaxed funthat would be 100k a year and no pressure to you then next year wityh profit maybe you could up it to 2 and half k or 3k all in smaller more workable time for your health and time to really enjoy your snooker pool darts football watching.one other thing i think you should not have done and dont feel bad me saying it you should have not started talkin about dinners and food as thats in my opinion you talking about some thing negative that bothers you deep down and all guys egging you on about it dosnt help. all this is for your own health care koo.it was great read i loved it but what ever you do enjoy it in controlled relaxed manner you have done the hard work learning it and winning slow down now.
