Does anyboby have any ideas as to how to stop myself blowing my banks on horse racing? I consistently build banks up on football, tennis and cricket. Then blow them on 'bored bets' on the ggs, followed by chase bets on the gg's, followed by chase bets on anything.
I am currently all in on a treble ffs (back hamburg, panathanikos lay werder bremen). I don't do multiples because because there is no value, but i'm on the chase.
This is not my only account but the above trend is pretty consistent.
I gamble for fun, however i don't like the feeling when all my hard work is blown in one evening on the american racing.
I know nothing about horse racing but still I go back for more and more. Any advice welcome.
just go for a walk, play with the kids, speak to the wife.watch a movie, stay away from ggs watch the football,or play ggs for fun very small steaks, have a word with u r self you know it makes sense

thanks ibrox, however i think i'm just a compulsive gambler. Small stakes on the gg's doesn't work for me. if i win the stakes increase and if i lose well the stakes increase.
Can i have horse racing removed from my options? Doubt betfair would agree to this!

yes Morrigan but 65p profit and a 33.16 treble which as soon as i confirmed i thought wtf, is not acceptable for the time i put in. I have a very well paid job and consider the return for the amount of time and effort unacceptable. This would not be the case if i could stop myself playing the nags.
Last night really fancied Lima had 150 in bank. Had 20 on them at 1.77 to save 130 to play the nags while i watched it.
Lima won i woke up to a bank of 33.16

morrow, you aren't a compulsive gambler. That whole compulsion thing is bullsh!t. Blowing your bank is a conditioned response that you have. You have to break your patterns and install new patterns that you follow. Write it down if necessary, but you got to give yourself something different to do when you get the thought of wanting to bet on horses. Go for a run, anything.
Its not discipline, its about setting yourself new patterns to follow and conditioning yourself to new ways of behaving.
good luck.

Looks like these horse racing bets you are having are just a 'quick** to satisfy an immediate urge, a bit like chocolate or junk food. The sports bets you make are more considered and therefore more like health food (certainly healthier for your P & L). Ask yourself, 'do I want junk?' if the answer is no, then you are at your destination, if the answer is yes, then be happy with the quick** accept it for what is.
