I used to be able to do this but have lost an old spreadsheet and can't remember how I got the formula
I want to calculate a dutch lay on three horses say at 3.0 5.0 & 8.0 so that my total liability is exactly £100 for all three. I know that those totals added together is approx 2.47 (i can work that out) but can't get the liability right.
Thanks for the reply bongo but as I said I know how to get that answer, it's the stake that I need to work out so that if I put £33.44 on H1 and £20.90 on H2 and £12.86 on H3 then my total liability on all three is £100 - it's getting those wages that I am struggling on

I worked it out! it doesn't look good but it goes like this if Cell L5=5 Cell L6=8 Cell L7=13 Then =100/(((100+(100/(L6/L5))+((100/(L6/L5))/(L7/L6)))*(1/(1/L5+1/L6+1/L7)-1))/100) gives me £33.440514 to lay on the first Horse I can work out the other stakes from there. But if anyone else can make it easier I would appreciate it
