"amount then stupidly losing it"
Consider the concept that you are stupid, i know thats quite rude but could be the answer? 90% of people lose i think, so theres no shame in that. |

ok then whats the best way to go about when the bank is sitting nice. do most people aim to make a certain amount each day. what wud the maximum stake % be?
|
|

I'll assume that you do actually have an edge. If you don't, the advice would be "stop betting". Alternatively, just bet for fun, and don't fool yourself.
If you do have an edge and you are still losing, it means you should stop over staking |

ok then whats the best way to go about when the bank is sitting nice. do most people aim to make a certain amount each day. what wud the maximum stake % be? Are you placing straight bets, or trading? If you are placing straight bets (uncorrelated), use Kelly staking. If you are trading, you should still have a look at it, as you can modify it to suit your needs. And you'll probably learn something useful. |

sumtimes i wud trade from a winning position. mostly straight bets. the plan is usually to lay big prices.

nasri - What do you call a "decent bank"?????
People on here have said that the bank size does not matter .......but IMO that is not true for everyone. If you only have say £200 it is so easy to lose that by perhaps betting more than once on same event after winning initially etc ....To win say £10 from first bet is usually not enough for many peolpe. If £2,000 bank and ypu win £100 from first bet.....then you normally should be "satisfied" with such a level of profit from 1 bet. If you have £2,000 and sufficient edges that should be enough IMO for you to do well. |

I have been building a bank steadily over the past couple of weeks by laying the draw in football matches where I am reasonably confident of goals and/or the right team scoring first. So today I STUPIDLY lost a portion of it by a combination of greed and ignoring my system..there was no way I should have touched Rangers-Celtic or Sunderland-Fulham with a 20ft clown pole but I did.
Yes I had wins on other games but this is outweighed by annoyance at my own stupidity. Discipline is a wonderful thing but 12 hours of potentiaal bets laid out in front of you is a very tempting and dangerous thing. The first reply was right..withdraw money and go back to base camp that is the next level. |

Next level is to withdraw your winnings and start again nasri that may come across as a sarcastic answer, but is the best answer to date on this thread imo |
