Report Ron Pillock • January 20, 2010 4:08 PM GMT
My Fool Proof, Money back if you don't win £100,000 system will be on Ebay within the hour. A bargain at £4.95
Report SHAPESHIFTER • January 20, 2010 5:17 PM GMT
Even sadder will be the tipster sites and phone lines :(
Report Moon Light • January 20, 2010 10:11 PM GMT
Surely the systems will all work as all the horses will be trying.
We shall all make money with effortless ease.
Report hazel • January 20, 2010 11:08 PM GMT
well i have had bets in 19 races since it started, mostly £2 bets, and I am £35 up. Thats about a 92% return on stakes - So I love it.

With current liquidity you have bet small, but who knows I could be the first virtual millionaire (if I live long enough :-) )
Report SHAPESHIFTER • January 21, 2010 9:04 AM GMT
hazel,

you made 34 quid on 19 races.

How much time was involved on making that money?

Also, you say you "love it". So what is more satisfying to you? Winning 34 quid on pixels or the ups and downs of the real world of betting?

Not a criticism. Just looking for a perspective other than my own which is essentially I get no satisfaction at all, win or lose, from the virtual world of gaming.
Report Lori • January 21, 2010 9:09 AM GMT
Would be far better if a season unfolded in a day, so you had all horses from the same pool of say 100 running from 00:01 to 23:59, then a total restart
Report SHAPESHIFTER • January 21, 2010 9:37 AM GMT
Their Virtual Union would not allow it. Too much stress on their simple zero and one world.
Report Short Elliott • January 21, 2010 9:51 AM GMT
Would be more interesting without the forecast odds I think, although I appreciate that might put off the casual punter.
Report Lori • January 21, 2010 9:52 AM GMT
yeah, they kinda ruin it.

Also the commentary has a tiny vocab.
Report Short Elliott • January 21, 2010 9:57 AM GMT
Number four! Is. In. Last.
Report Moon Light • January 21, 2010 1:03 PM GMT
The f/c odds make a nonsense of all that rubbish about studying form etc.
How wrong can they be after 100 trials?
Report hazel • January 21, 2010 8:02 PM GMT
SHAPESHIFTER for me the challenge is to find the winner, or more importantly being a long term winner. I mostly bet on Football with some horse racing. Virtual Horses isn't much different than say playing cards, or indeed football betting, you are looking for the next card to be dealt, the next goal to be scored or the next pixel to be trodden.

Report Alex the old wrinkled retainer • January 22, 2010 8:04 AM GMT
I am fully expecting somebody to paper trade a system based on the jockeys colours or the horse number and conclude that the secret to riches has been discovered.

There ought to be a virtual racing forum really.

Report Lori • January 22, 2010 8:59 AM GMT
Why don't betfair give odds on the ones you're watching then? Seems like it would be a better way to standardise stuff.
Report bullhammer • January 22, 2010 9:05 AM GMT

Report brendanuk1 • January 22, 2010 9:43 AM GMT

And who said you would be mad to have a system in vr?
Report bullhammer • January 22, 2010 1:25 PM GMT
haven't looked at other sports brendan. If you watch the vr long enough, (and i don't mean this site!) you get to know the read of each race.
Report bullhammer • January 22, 2010 1:31 PM GMT

Report brendanuk1 • January 22, 2010 1:38 PM GMT
just wondering if you could see football fans betting on virtual football teams or is it peculiar to fans of horses?
Report bullhammer • January 22, 2010 1:40 PM GMT
there is virtual football in laddies shops.
Report Lori • January 22, 2010 1:40 PM GMT
A couple of the bookies have an awesome football game. I think it's beatable too but you have to wait forever for the right situation to arise (It runs an alogorithm that only seems to approximate odds and runs like a 140% book)
Report brendanuk1 • January 22, 2010 1:44 PM GMT
fascinated by stuff like that. will have to pop in to have a look
Report Lori • January 22, 2010 1:46 PM GMT
take a look at stans or joes online brendan, it's a numbers only game runs a season an hour.
