My mother-in-law wants a new lcd/;ed tv. I was hoping to get one with inbuilt freeview+ but there doesn't seem to be any. Are freeview+ boxes just as easy to use as sky+ boxes?

no. they are much harder to use. Thats why they are free, so that instead of paying money to have it easy like with sky you have to spend on average 5 and half days to manuall tune each channel.

Thank sDMK. It's strange because I'd come accross that link before but whenever I clicked on it nothing was listed. It's also strange that when you click on any of the links to those tv's no mention of freeview+ is made. I went to the LG site and looked at the model listed on the tv's with freeview+ pagel

http://www.lge.com/uk/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-lcd-tv-42LH5000.jsp?s_kwcid=TC|9564|lg%2042lh5000||S|e|3786773198#features

and it states

"Don't forget you can also record digital tv at the touch of a button with a freeview DVD recorder using the 8 day on screen EPG"

They are easy to work, even for an 80 year old.

I would buy separates. The box price varies but can be bought in your local supermarket for £100 ish. If technology moves on then you only replace the box and not the tv. And if it breaks you simply bin the old box and buy a new one.

Feck, last year bought a seperate panasonic recorder with hard disc. Excellent quality. Allows me to record while watching, etc.

Main thing (since you are buying for your mother) is it is easy to use. Simple to program, navigate, etc.

When nagra 3 comes out in feb all chipped boxes will be no good ,eg eurovox boxes in leeds and yorkshire already gone down

Thanks JML. I've been googling "lcd tv built in freeview+" whereas "lcd tv built in hard drive" gives results.
