Does anyone know what stake levels set alarm bells ringing in betting shops? I often have bets turned down or stake/price reduced after a phone call by the manager.
I would like to know what are the maximums I can get on without triggering these phone calls. This may mean I have to visit a few shops to get the money I want on, but at least I can get maximum on at each shop.
I bet mainly on horses and football but also other sports and (very occasionally) greyhounds.
Thanks Dave, but I tend to travel around and don't really get to know staff in any of the shops. I thought maybe a couple of good-natured betting shop employees might read this and be able to let me know some numbers.

Id have thought payout just as much as stakes? example £20 on an evens would ring bells, but £20 at 33-1 would. But as someone said ask behind counter, Id have thought theyd be pretty consistent in areas.

Time of Day : More sensitive am rather time of race Type of Event: More on English premier than Russian Premier Type of Customer: regulars get more than stranger, losers are accomodated better than winners
Tips: If you tip, you may find the staff are more receptable to turning a blind eye

Hills up to a grand take out without referal allegedly.....that includes the stake so you would have to have say £240 @ 3/1 to keep under rather than £250.

I'm confused, Why would anyone want to back anything in shops. aren't the prices always available here to chunks and often 20% better.
they must be I frequently see it advertised

well ladbrokes in livingston took £116,000 cash on england beating angola last year
and that is one of the smallest ladbrokes betting shops in the uk
it was in the papers, he risked £116,000 to make £680 profit or something like that

Not sure how their finances work, but they could have taken the £116k invested it in the overnight markets to potentially make more then pay the guy back.
£116k to win £680? No wonder they layed it.Not sure how their finances work, but they could have taken the £116k invested it in the overnight markets to potentially make more then pay the guy back.
